Okay, I have a projection HDTV and a CRT moniter, both with DVI ports. My video card has a DVI port as well, and I am hoping to have DVI cables to connect my video card to my HDTV and my video card to my moniter (obviously one at a time). I'm not sure about the differences between DVI-A DVI-A and DVI-D cables, but the ports on my video card and moniter look the same (the part to the side of the grid thing looks like a + with dots in each corner), but the port on my TV looks like just a -).
For my video card to my moniter, I happen to have a DVI cord that has the - like my HDTV, but it's too short to go to the HDTV and it doesn't seem to work with the moniter. Would a longer version of this cord work for my HDTV/Video card connection (I figure it'd have to be since it's the only kind that would fit in the HDTV port)? And do I have to get another cord with the + and the dots for my Video card to the moniter?
Another question, is the video card/HDTV connection even possible due to the differences in the ports?
Thanks for the help.
