DVI to BNC cable for my Sony FW900 24" CRT

Hi. I am looking for a GOOD quality DVI to BNC cable for my Sony FW900. Quality is important but I don't want to buy a $50 cable. I hear the crappy quality DVI to BNC cables cause ghosting and shadowing problems. And the DVI to VGA cables aren't good enough for the high resolutions I will be using the monitor for.

My res will be at 1900x1200 @ 85Hz or 2304 x 1440 @80hz. So the quality of the cable is important.

Any recommendations?

Ive found alot laying around on google but I don't know which ones are good.

I'll take a look when I get home. I purchased cables so my son and I could play Xbox360/PS3 on the FW-900 thus freeing up the TV. With the dual input selectors I can go from computer to console. Works really well.

The normal adapters that come with the video cards work fine in most cases. If you still get interference problems, there are good DVI-VGA cables like this available. I doubt BNC would provide any improvement at all.

I use an adapter to run 2048x1536 at 85hz (which pretty much maxes out the RAMDACs on current video cards) in many games and it looks perfectly sharp, although the adapters do vary a lot in quality.

I didn't see any direct DVI to BNC, but you can use the DVI to HD 15 adapter.

I to have the same monitor (the HP variant). I dont know if there are any DVI-BNC, most the ones I have seen are VGA-BNC, but I just use a DVI-VGA then do VGA-BNC, works fine.

I bought and use the cable at Monoprice

Its cheap, but it works fine. Hope you like your monitor, I really love mine.

Go with what Cabages has posted. I did the same thing, dvi to vga then the vga to bnc.

Monitor is H U G E 98lbs. I love it and HD content is incredible to look at. Can't wait to play Crysis on it. Not made anymore but you can find it and the HP version (That's the one I have) on Ebay.

I picked mine up for $300. I think mine was produced somewhere between 01-03 and retailed for 2K when it first came out. I had to do some tweaking to get black levels down. But there wasn't anything out there at that price point that could compare to it.

Thanks for the replies. But The DVI to VGA adapters can cause ghosting and jittering. The better alternative would DVI to VGA cable (no adapters).

However, if I am going to buy a cable like that I might as well get a DVI to BNC. They do make them, but I am not sure which one I should buy.

Some adapters can cause signalling issues at high frequencies, but others work fine. They're a bit of a crapshoot, but you get them free with video cards so it's worth trying them out. The ones that came with my X1900 seem to be good, although I have some older ones that create various problems.

Yeah I tried the one that came with my video card (8800gts 512mb) and one that was purchased off of newegg. Both give me a slight text blur at high Freq (85hz) but doesn't do it at 60hz.

I absofreakinglutely LOVE big CRTs. They're such a pain to maintain and are so giant, heavy, and hot though

I had a 21" 4:3 Sony G500 CRT, which was fantastic. I always wanted to get it professionally refurbished by a CRT technician, but never found anyone who knew how. It was the same vintage as yours, and had the same black level issues. It also had a small chip in a corner, but I didn't notice it after awhile.

I ended up giving it to my friend after I got my BenQ 24, but getting accurate colors and black levels is kicking my ass on that as well.

Maybe I will get the same DVI -> BNC adapter you're talking about (since mine had RGBHV BNCs as well), get the monitor adjusted, and get it back. I would LOVE to run it with my LCD for color correction!

DVI to 5 BNC under the "DVI to Analog" section... Yeah they will cost a bit, but these guys know what they are doing and do a good job as well. I have picked up a lot of my audio interconnect cables (i.e. the cables that go from my pre-processor to my amplifiers as well as CD transport to pre-processor) from them in the past (interconnect cables are probably the single most important cable in a audio/visual cable setup as any imperfection in the cable which causes the signal to change in some form will then be amplified since this is on the un-amplified signal and then sent to your speakers).
