I started having this problem while playing SC2. With the apparent frame cap problems it's having I am inclined to believe it's just the video card, but I wanted some other opinions before I ordered a new GPU. This entire computer is about 2.5 years old and I have had zero problems with it until now.
3Ghz Core 2 Duo
Geforce 8800GTS 512
4GB ram
Win 7 64bit
Antec Earthwatts 500w
no overclocking
While playing SC2 my screen froze, covered in pink and green shades, lines, and artifacts. Rebooting, the computer seemed fine. I attempted to play SC2 again and the same thing happened fairly quickly. During the POST there were still some artifacts on the screen. I uninstalled/reinstalled my nvidia drivers and started up EVE Online, which locked up in the same fashion within seconds. Now it happens even at the normal Win 7 desktop (Safe Mode + Networking still works fine).
Speedfan never reported GPU temps above 62C during any of this, although I wasn't watching it during the first crash, where the damage might have occurred. Still happens with a house fan blowing in the case.
Does this consistent pink/green lockup sound like a dead video card?
