Dying Light - new zombie game

Think I am going to skip dying light.

I was really hoping for a multiplayer zombie game where the boss zombies are human controlled like in the l4d series.

Why can't someone make a decent multiplayer zombie game? I would love to see something like Rust turned into an urban zombie survival game.

Is the singleplayer experience worth it? I just hope it's not a 5-hour "campaign" just to force you to go multiplayer, not that I won't play it but i'd like a solid singleplayer experience from this one...

im not entirely sure but isnt that the "be the zombie" mode that dying light has a (i think free) dlc?

I have it on console and the multiplayer is co op up to 4 people. Its seamless and you join others close to you in the story of the game. You can do quests together, etc. There is also a be the zombie mode which one of the players can play as a zombie against the human players. There are different type of game modes in co op too, I guess its based on who is where in the completion of the game.

So you can join anyone but if your single player experience hasn't got up to where the host is, you may see some things ahead of time.

One review stated with all the quests and story missions you can easily hit 50hrs.

its primarily sp campaign that you can play with friends

think about it like playing the borderland campaign... you can play it alone, yes. Will you? hell no, way better with friends

Sounds like the exact same Sp/Mp setup as Dead Island (makes sense, since it comes from the same people).

AMD CPU performance fix.

If you have an AMD 6+ core CPU this will probably fix your performance.

After opening the game, alt-tab out of it. Go in task manager (ctrl+shift+esc) in Processes tab and right-click on DyingLightGame.exe
Change:
SetPriority - Realtime
Click SetAffinity - Unckeck <AllProcessors> Then check CPU 1 2 3 4.

Performance at least doubled for me in interiors. Outside I'm waiting for new AMD drivers.

How to make a shortcut for this:

And add /realtime to the command line like this:

cmd.exe /c start "Program Name" /realtime /affinity # "Full path of application file"

Game plays very well on my pc at 1440p with all settings maxed out except for the draw distance. only issue I have is when it goes to some cut scenes it lags a tad.

Specs are 5930k, 16gb DDR4 2800mhz, EVGA GTX 980 SC ACX2 and ROG swift PG278Q but with my specs it better play well.

I do, the quests and exploration enough is good for me. I'm enjoying it quite a bit and the night time pretty much makes it feel like two different games. I've never played dead island but watched my bro play it and he ended up not liking it after a while. Its more involved than left for dead and its also more so campaign based.

I would say it's like far cry and mirrors edge mixed with dead island theme and mechanics. I'm playing it on ps4 so I can't speak to performance on a PC.

The combat is pretty brutal which is fun and you can craft some pretty cool weapons if you find the blueprints. I'd say it's a big improvement from dead island.

No, they reduced max view distance to be much lower than the 'max' value of the previous patch.

Ended up buying the game. I missed the Dead Island series and it seems like some of the complaints were that it was fairly similar and didn't add too much new, and I wasn't going to have that problem.

I like it. The freerunning system is a lot of fun. Game isn't perfect. I kept it at the default settings for my computer (Everything to "High" with all effects on), and haven't noticed a lot of slow down. A few stutters here and there or odd slow downs at times, but nothing sustained.

This game would have been a lot better if there were actual choices in the game as to how to complete the missions. For instance,

when doing enforcement for Rais, if you could pay some of your own money and pretend that you got it from the people you were supposed to shake down, to get some benefit in reputation from those communities, that would be cool.

But as it is, you get choices on what missions to go after, but not how to complete them.

Still having fun though.

However, dragon age claimed it was 100-200 and at least half of that was useless filler, so in terms of genuine decent gameplay I have no idea if this follows a similar breakdown or not.

It's got a good amount of quests and some of them can be pretty long after the first few beginner missions.

I just started playing it this weekend and just playing the single player - really fun.

I have a 290 GPU with an i7, and I maxed out settings and experienced some fps slowdown at points. If you turn off the Nvidia settings, seemed to go away - also if you drop the draw distance,it makes a pretty big difference in performance , but I didnt see a big difference visually. running at 1080.

Overall its clear this was a console game and was then ported/additionally to be played on the PC.

Open world, very much reminds me of Farcry 4 actually in some weird ways, but a good zombie game.

I'm liking this game a lot so far. It's what Dead Island should have been. Skill tree is fun, night time is frantic, story seems solid enough to keep you engaged, co-op works and is fun. You can climb EVERYTHING which is cool. I'm only about 4 hours in but I haven't even really hit 10% yet so I'm sure there is tons of content. Plus, just running around scavenging is fun enough right now. Fun game.
