My buddy just picked one of these up last night. He added a 2-year warranty, and with the California recycle tax and sales tax it came out to $620 out the door. It was hooked up to the lan PC first and we played red alert 3 on it for a bit as well as bioshock... everything looked awesome. There is a little ghosting on the FPS, but were sitting way to close to it really... if we were about 5 feet away, you wouldnt be able to tell. PS3 looked even better with SF4.... blue ray(300) also looked very good. The speakers surprisingly sound pretty decent. If you need a TV, you can't loose with this set IMO.

isn't Dynex horrible though? I've had very bad luck with their products.

I would rather spend $50 more and get atleast a vizio or something a little better.

I wanted to see the quality of the TV in the store, but they didn't have any on display. I only saw the smaller Dynex TVs on display and was afraid they would be cheaply made too, but when I opened the box I was pleasantly surprised that the quality is at least a step higher the their smaller models. I figured I have 30 days to return it if it sucks.

Dynex is comparable to vizio for the most part. If you want something better get a samsung or a panasonic plasma. FYI sears has a 1080P 42 panny for 699 this week.

I will try and remember to take a couple of pictures of the setup we use at work as a welcome board. One of the VP's has this LCD as a second monitor for meetings and as a TV.

There's a sucker born every minute, so they say.

I love that they turned the Geek squad into their service dept. Now the geek squad also warranties dishwashers, microwaves, and vacuum cleaners lmao. Leave it upto corp management to destroy a brand name.

I got this TV almost a year ago
As I said in a Previous post, it's a great TV for the money. It has always been a low end cost model but the quality was comparable if not better in my experience to the other low to mid range TVs. I use this every day from normal HD cable, to Blueray, to HDMI from both my PC and wife's laptop. It works great. At this price I am looking to buy a 2nd one for the spare bedroom.

Can anyone comment on the viewing angle quality? I'm looking for something with great viewing angles (specifically horizontal) but it needs to be cheap since I will most likely be dismantling it for a project

I have had mine for 1 year next month, it gets used EVERY NIGHT between 7pm and shuts down at around 12, since I bought it. Picture looks amazing at 9+ feet. Lots of inputs, sound is not to bad but I run a sub and some cheap logitecH $15 side speakers. I run a pc through it along with sat, and has been flawless for me this whole time of ownership. I paid $100 then it is now for it, and for the most part all LCD tv's are made from one of like 3 places that build them and slap a brand name on it, and change the case around. But with HD sat or movies, or even games for that matter for I have it set up to do it all in my bedroom, and if I had the funds Id buy like 3 more to replace the rest of my old CRT stuff. Id kill to run one of these as a main pc screen for my work area here.

But 42" 1080P for $5 bills what could you really be expecting? A 80" Samsung perhaps for that money? IMO its worth the 5 bills and more

Funboy....The part where you said "I paid $100 then it is now for it," .....that prob means you paid $600, and it is now $500.

I think your review may have convinced me to buy this for my folks. I will look for it to drop back to $500.

Well, really... it should be 50 bucks since it's 550 bucks now. So basically your getting the TV for what he paid for it - the tax unless you live in Oregon.

Just wait till it's 399 on black friday.
