Dyson Owners--Relieve My Concerns, Please!

I just ordered a "refurbished" Dyson vaccuum with a 6 month warranty. My boyfriend had concerns b/c I didn't get a new one w/ a 2 year warranty.

I thought that saving ~$130 on the vaccuum was worth the risk, given how high everyone speaks of Dysons, but now I'm concerned.

Do you think it was worth it? Do you think there's really a need for a 2 year warranty w/ such a good vaccuum? If so, is it worth the $130 that I saved?

Thanks,

Sarah

Don't sweat it. My $60 Eureka vacuum is fine more 3 years after purchase. I don't think I could ever justify paying more than $100 for a vacuum cleaner.

If you get your $400 Dyson from Costco, like all Costco purchases (excluding computers, gasoline, and food items more than 80% consumed), you have a lifetime return policy. So when that technologically advanced vacuum dies you can take it back and just get a new one or a FULL refund. Of course you have to pay the $45 a year.

When we buy a Dyson vacuum it will be from CostCo. We also earn 2% from our Amex CostCo cc.

who's this everyone who speaks highly of dyson? they seem to work about as well as cheaper vacumns in consumer reports. they are just a lot prettier. marketing psychology 101..tests show people will rate something better when they percieve it to be packaged attractively even if it only performs ok.

i think most vacuums have a 90 day warranty, so 6 months is long

besides, when was the last time anybody you know ever got a vacuum fixed? vacuums are throw away

how do you get warranty service? you ship it somewhere? and wait 8-10 weeks? how do you vacuum while you are waiting 2-3 months?

just buy a new one, when they break , throw away and buy another one

its pretty simple device anyways. motorsaren't that unreliable. if a belt snaps you can generally replace it yourself. thats about it. more likely u'll snap something thats plastic.

Don't worry you are good. I got one refurbed...saved $220. Over 1 year later, still not a single problem.

what I wanna know is...

if these things were so reliable, why were they refurnished to begin with.

Most "refurbished" products are either open-box returns that get sent back to the manufacturer yet can't be re-sold as new units, or products where a part failed the initial Quality Control in the factory and had that part replaced.

Very few "refurbished" products are ones that have actually failed in service for a consumer.
