I have the DC07 without the Animal tool and the belt drive to run the brush has stopped working. Very loud before it broke and now the cleaning is nowhere near as good.

So tell me, how messy is it to empty the Dyson dust container once it's full? I have a bagless Kenmore vacuum and I absolutely lothe having to empty the dust container and clean the dust off the air filter. It takes me 10 minutes and I have to do it in the garage because of the mess it makes. Bags are so much cleaner...

I don't understand how people can spend $500+ on a vacuum cleaner. On a vacuum cleaner!

I agree, I could spend 500 bucks on a hooker that could take the chrome off a bumper. Tell me any vacuum that can do that

If you dont have a bajillion dollars for a supervacume...Go for an Oreck vacuum. My dad manages a 100 room hotel and they use Orecks, with no problem at all - we have one in our house as well. Theyre really light weight, simple, and no messy dust canister crap, a hepa filter bag thing kicks ass! Get an oreck, youll love it.

Are dyson's good

YES!!! We bought a dyson, great to vacuum bare floors and especially carpet (we have an Oriental rug not wall to wall, but that baby sucked up so much dust out of it that it looks brand spankin' new!!!)

By the way, we got the yellow one, not the purple one (I think we paid 300 or 400 for it).

Very easy, just place the vertial canister over the garbage can, and squeeze the lever, and the bottom falls out (just don't empty it into a full garbage can, otherwise it will be all over). Then push the bottom back, it snaps, it's done.

From what I understand if you registered your vacuum you can call them up and they will either send you to an authorized repair shop or send you a new part to do it yourself. Or just give you a whole new one. I haven't had to test this out but I've read this from many reviews.

I got my Dyson a few weeks ago. It works really well and everything...but it was a bitch to pay that much for a vacuum. But if it lasts more than 3 years I'll be happy.

Also, I got mine with a 10% coupon from Target.com. Coupon is weekly so it shouldn't be hard to find. Came out to $387 and some change I believe.

I just got a LNT coupon in the mail today. It does have Dyson excluded.

This is why the 5800Ultra was the best bargain around. Killed two birds with one stone.

Cheers!

Buy one and compare.

The reason people buy Oreck vacuums is the weight. The power is ridiculously bad. If you decide to get one, be sure to have even an old Hoover around to compare the two side by side so you can truly experience the subpar performance.

I was so amazed by the Dyson customer service that I started this thread about the only problem we have had with our Dyson.

damn heh.

I guess I probably would too if I could afford it ..

its not as much as people think, only like $200 a month and man after working long hours at work it sure is nice to come home to a clean house. if you have a couple of roomates think about how little it would cost you.

Its only $200 a month? Thats...damn cheap, and this is coming from a college student. How many homes does your housekeeper work in? Seems like it'd be hard to make decent cash, unless she rotates through a few houses per day.

500 bucks is on the cheap side of vacuum cleaners, no?

I consider it a bargain.

uhh, no.

$500.00 is an insane amount to spend on a vacuum.

Not if it keeps all of your carpets looking like new. Sounds like a good deal to me. Just think back to how much you paid/would pay for recarpeting your house.

Actually, the design of the Dyson is more of a centrifugal separator than a typical vacuum cleaner.

Cheers!

nice gadget. doubtful that its works well enough to really justify its price. doubt it cleans over 3 times as good as a 150dollar model. its not like normal vacumn bags take years to fill chock full of dirt or anything.

You should try one, you will change your opinion.

Not only is the dc7 a powerful vacuum cleaner, I am amazed at the way it is designed. Everything just works the way it should.

Exactly.

I didn't believe it myself until I gave up on my POS bagless Hoover and bought the Dyson.

This thing is a monster. You will be amazed at how much stuff it picks up. I never realized how dirty my floors were until I got this thing. The best part of it all is that my wife is really happy and doesn't complain anymore about the vacuum cleaner. I do agree with others that the vacuum seems kind of flimsy and plasticky but thats about the only negative.

I'm a believer now.

We bought ours from Bed Bath and Beyond (used a 20% off coupon - if you have a coupon, read the small print, some exclude Dyson, some don't)

I bought a refurb from Amazon with stacked coupons and free shipping for about $250.

My friend bought a new one on ebay from about $275 w/shipping.
