Ross,
I bought mine on ebay as well, I just watched for one in my area and picked it up. If you want one, that is the way to go.

That's actually a good idea. No shipping expense or risk of it being damaged.
Which model and what price did you pay?
How do you like it so far? Pros & Cons?

Ours is the DC-04, I think it was about £60 on Ebay (present from my folks).
Pros
Awesome cleaning power. Try cleaning your car with it- the amount of crud it gets out is astonishing.
No bag - doesn't lose suction.
Very simple to take apart if it gets clogged.
Seems to be made of very tough plastic - highly durable. Ours is a year or two old and there's not even a scuff on it.
Cons
A bit heavy, especially for cleaning stairs.
Expensive compared to regular cleaners.

consumer reports says its not worth the money. last month or two they did a line up of all the vacumns, this month they just had a bit on the newest dyson. it works, but only as well as cheaper ones in both those issues
people just like paying premium for the pretty design.
