But the biggest infraction was the contracts Buddy Ryan put out on players in the laegue

Typical Dallas Crybaby. The Dynasty is no more. Dallas Played Just as dirty in their heydays as any Eagles teams ever did. And any dirty player would be welcome on ANY team he played and hated by any opponent he played.

Texmaster get over it. The Cowboys suck! And now, theyre going to suck for a few years. Wanna know why? Because their owner blew his wad on a dynasty in the 90s. He is now reaping what hes sewn. Remember the days of the cowboys championships and watch as the Eagles begin to obtain theirs.

Go Eagles! Go Flyers!

<< Sounds like you're itching to lose money >>

Ummmm, check the spread dude. Smart money is on Philly.
>>

Unless I'm misunderstanding the term "smart money," you must be on crack.

According to USA Today, St. Louis is favored by 11.5 to 12 points this Sunday.

What smart money are you talking about?

LOL Boy what a liar you are.

The eagles were the only team in the league that actually had hits put out on certain players and got bonuses when those players were knocked out.

No other team even came close to that.

I'm not denying anything there. The Cowboys did sacrifice the future to rape your Eagles for a decade (sorry eagle fans this guy is asking for it)

I was afraid a child would come in here and ruin a happy rivalry thread, now I have a name to go along with that child.

The smart money is the money taking those 11.5 points. Maybe someone should explain to you how a point spread works.

I'm fully aware of how a point spread works. Maybe you need to stop making assumptions.
Just because a team is not favored doesn't automatically mean that any bets on that team is "smart money." Unless you have some inside sources telling you that that's who the pros are betting on.

Well.....you wanted to know what the "pros" were doing and what they thought, so......here's the L.V. oddsmakers take..............

  • Subscriber Picks January 24, 2002

Philadelphia Eagles (13-5) at St. Louis Rams (15-2)

St. Louis picked to win by 12

The Philadelphia Eagles will play the St. Louis Rams in the NFC Championship. The winner will play the following week at New Orleans in the Super Bowl. Philadelphia is 13-5 and defeated Tampa Bay and Chicago to get to this final. St. Louis is 15-2 and crushed Green Bay, 45-17 last week. The Rams defeated the Eagles, 20-17 in week one.

The Eagles offense has picked up their game and that can be directly linked to the improvement of quarterback Donovan McNabb. The signal-caller completed 26-of-40 passes for 262 yards and two touchdowns in last weeks 33-19 victory over the Bears. Duce Staley, who led the team in rushing (166-604-2) and receptions (63) rushed for 66 yards on 18 carries and caught seven passes for 54 yards and one touchdown last week. Wideout James Thrash (63-833-8) grabbed five passes for 73 yards. Tight end Chad Lewis added three receptions for 32 yards. Todd Pinkston chipped in with two catches for 19 yards.

The Eagles defense is one of the best in the NFC. They have allowed just 11.5 points per game and held the Bears to 184 total yards. The Birds secondary is also one of the best in football, but the status of cornerback Troy Vincent is very questionable after getting injured last week and at best he will be 75% on gameday. Brian Dawkins, Bobby Taylor and Damon Moore all start along with Vincent. Jeremiah Trotter is a Pro-Bowler. The middle linebacker garnered a team-high 11 tackles last week. Mike Caldwell and Carlos Emmons start with Trotter. Hugh Douglas and Corey Simon anchor a decent defensive line.

Pro Bowl kicker David Akers booted four field goals last week and continues to be one of the NFC's most consistent kickers. Brian Mitchell is one of the top kick and punt returner of all time.

The Rams offense is the best and most explosive in football. They scored over 500 points this season and reached 45 points in their first playoff game of the season. Quarterback Kurt Warner runs the show. The league MVP threw for 4,830 yards and 36 touchdowns during the regular season. Warner completed 18-of-30 passes for 216 yards and two touchdowns a week ago. The AP offensive Player of the Year, running back Marshall Faulk topped the 2,000 yard mark from scrimmage and scored 21 touchdowns. Faulk rushed for 82 yards and one score, while catching six passes for 47 yards in the win over the Packers. Torry Holt (81-1,363-7), Isaac Bruce (64-1,106-6), Rickey Proehl (40-563-5) and Az-Zahir Hakim form the most dangerous receiving crop in the NFL. Holt led the group last week, catching five passes for 84 yards and one touchdown.

The Rams defense is the best in the NFC. Last week they picked off Packers quarterback Brett Favre six times. Like the Eagles, the strength of the unit is in the secondary. Aeneas Williams picked off his fifth and sixth passes of the season last week, returning them both for touchdowns. Dexter McCleon and Kim Herring each added an interception. Dre' Bly and rookie Adam Archuleta continue to play strong. Linebackers London Fletcher and rookie Tommy Polley have been outstanding. Fletcher led the team in tackles during the regular campaign. Polly led the team with eight tackles last week and picked off a pair of passes, returning one for a score. Leonard Little, Grant Wistrom and Brian Young anchor the defensive line.

Place kicker Jeff Wilkins is consistent, especially inside the 40 yard line. With his field goal last week, Wilkins is now 17-of-17 from inside the 40. Trung Candidate, Bly and Zahir Hakim return the kicks. All can take it the distance.

Doc,
You should be rooting for the eagles cause it would make the mugging they gave the Bears look respectable.

Legal hit! And why does the NFL fine him for an "illegal" hit that the refs on the field had no problem with?

I've watched the Eagles every year for the past 25 years. I was a fan and a follower of the Eagles before most of you were born. These guys look like the Eagles of the 80s. Very, very much like the Eagles of the 80s. And therefore, if I had the money to throw down on a bet instead of food into my kids mouths, I wouldn't bat an eyelash on dropping the money down on a bet that they'd win this Sunday. It's coming down to turnovers in this game. Which team will be rattled and haunted by the turnovers. The defenses will play and win this game.

Somehow I don't think you nor Douglass nor the rest of the Philadelphia McNabbs'll have a problem remembering Kurt Warner's name after looking up at a 48-3 halftime deficit Sunday...

It's very ironic (and fitting) that a Chicagoan will lead your team BTW...

Fitting? How is that?

and btw, dumbass, I called him Shane Miller in deference to Hugh Douglass comments on the bears' tandem of no-skill hacks. I guess you are a fanboy who doesn't read the news...
