Avalon, I'd say you're a bit high as well. For reference, I'm running the following:

abit IP35-E
E4400 - L2 - 2.8Ghz (10x 280FSB) @ 1.325Vcore (default)
OCZ Plat. Rev.2 1Gx2 @ DDR2-840 (280FSB @ 1:1.5 ratio), 4-4-4-15-2T @ 2.05Vdimm
Stock Intel Cooler (upgrading when I can, trust me!)

Temps are running @ 42 +/-1 idle & 68 +/-1 load using Orthos large.

I get a perfectly stable OC with specs of:

abit IP35-E
E4400 - L2 - 3.0Ghz (10x 300FSB) @ 1.345Vcore (one step [.02] from default)
OCZ Plat. Rev.2 1Gx2 @ DDR2-900 (300FSB @ 1:1.5 ratio), 4-4-4-15-2T @ 2.15Vdimm
Stock Intel Cooler

If ONLY it'd be stable at default Vcore! The temps @ 300FSB/1.345Vcore get a bit high for my tastes with that OC at: 43 +/-1 idle (thank you C1E & EIST) & 74 +/-1 loaded using Orthos large.

Anything touching 75C is too hot for my tastes even though it's within the 'Tjunction less 25C' parameter. Hence, I'm running 24/7 @ the highest stable overclock at default voltage (2.8Ghz for me).

Once I get my planned AC Freezer 7 Pro down the road ($20! ...why not?), I'm hoping for 10x 333FSB. Unfortunately I'll probably have to drop my ratio to 1:1.25 for DDR833, 4-4-4-15-2T. UNLESS I'm very lucky and my RAM will run @ 1:1.5 for DDR2-999 at, say, 5-5-5-15-2T. BUT, we'll cross that bridge when we get there.

I have tried dropping the multi to 8x & 9x w/ a 333FSB, but it doesn't help that much and the Vcore still had to go up to 1.385, plus you have to disable C1E & EIST at non-default multi. So, dropped that RIGHT back down and am where i am now.

In any case, a 40% overclock is fine with me at default voltage with stock cooling!

EDIT: Added screen shots of all overclocks.

A request for folks who can run their E2140/E2160 higher than 340 FSB: Can you run a quick Super Pi 1M and Everest Cache/Latency test and post the screenshots @8x333 or @8x334? I want to figure out how the straps are manipulated with these 800 FSB CPUs. Reason why I'm asking 333/334 FSB is because that's the limit of my E2140 hence I can make a proper verification with my own results.

1:1 and 1.1.20 dividers are on 1333 strap
1:1.25 and 1:1.50 dividers are on 1066 strap

Major difference is the MB. Those P965 chipsets can have problem overclocking 800MHz CPUs.

Unfortunately 3.6ghz is not stable for me at 1.495V. Going to 1.515V would probably do it but I'd rather not exceed 1.5V. I'm probably gonna settle for 3.5ghz at 1.455V for now.

I'd limit Vcore to about 1.505. At that voltage, I was able to achieve full stability with E4300 at 3.58GHz. But there's a catch. My room temp must be 66F or lower. The Big Typhoon cannot keep the CPU core temp from breaking 82C at 75F room.

Do you mean setting 1.505V in the bios, or the adjusted voltage including vdroop?

LOL, could have sworn I saw you list your cooling as a Coolermaster Gemini II. My mistake. Even still, I thought the TR-120 was on par with all but high end water cooling? There shouldn't be a 20C difference between us...should be more like 5C.

I think we have sufficient data to make a few scientific conclusions:

1. 50% of these chips with hit 3.2GHz @ 1.40Vcore
2. P35 boards have no problem overclocking a capable CPU to a minimum of 370MHz FSB

Not sure if I should make a different thread or not, but I'm still waiting to hear from folks with E2140/E2160 with 340FSB+. I ran quick tests on my own. OS is Vista 32-bit.

e4400 @ 3.2ghz (10x320) 1.385v
Abit iP35-e
2x1gb ddr2 800 Crucial Ballistix async
Zalman CNPS7700-AlCu on arctic silver
OCZ Gamexstream 600w

Temps while running Orthos is nearly 75C! I'm keeping it 2.6ghz @ 1.285v for daily use. Right now I'm 35C idle, 50C load.

I bet I can get lower temps if I re-seat. I applied the AS all over the heatspreader and found out later that the cpu just needs a thin vertical line of AS for optimal contact.

You'll need a better cooler. 7700 was an excellent cooler for AMD CPUs. You'll need to step up to a decent heat pipe cooler like Big Typhoon or Ultra 90/120.

No one with an E21x0 has time to run a Pi 1M or Everest cache/latency test @333FSB? Any multiplier below 9 (that is 6, 7, 8) would do. Much thanks in advance.

Here are my results. I just got the Abit board yesterday so still some testing to see if i can get it higher.

- E2140 @ 3.2GHz
- 8x400FSB
- 1.465v in BIOS (under load shows 1.412v - 1.436v in CPU-Z)
- Abit IP35-E
- 4 x 1GB OCZ Reaper PC2-6400 @ 4-4-4-15-2T 800Mhz 2.2v
- Thermalright Ultra 90 w/90mm fan

This is Orthos stable 11+ hours (blend test CPU/Ram) just check during lunch. I guess there's no need to let it keep running, will stop it when i get home from work.

Will see how far I can go at this voltage. Didn't have to change any other settings besides what's listed above. Great chip and board combo so far, and to have 4 sticks running like that is very impressive. I was unable to run 4 sticks on a DFI Infinity 975x board at this speed. 2 sticks was great and was actually able to get 940Mhz on the RAM.

Anyhow.....will see later what i can take this combo up to.

Best of luck to all.

You can add mine to the mix.

E4400 @ 2.8Ghz (10 x 280Mhz)
1.275v (default vcore), actual is less, board seems to undervolt
Conroe865PE
2 x 1GB Kingston HyperX DDR CAS2, running at 2-3-3-8, 224Mhz (DDR 448)
Stock intel cooler, 71C under load (Orthos small FFTs)
Stable as a rock. (Not stable at 285Mhz FSB)

Now we're talking! Got some 1M and 32 SP numbers? Mine is up to 3.48GHz with 1.465Vcore. Still massaging my RAMs for stability and speed. What's your peak coretemp under Orthos Lage mode? Also specify your room temp.

TIA

Hehehehhh...luck of the draw in this game. This baby is good up to 3.58GHz with 1.505Vcore, but the heat is too much for my BT unless room temp is under 66F. I'm up to 3.48GHz with the heat spreader ON. Will probably need to mill the BT's base so I can mount the cooler directly to the CPU die if I want to squeeze another 20-30MHz core speed at 1.465Vcore.

Quick question...which BIOS on IP35-E? I'm limited to 1.465 or 1.485 with 11, 12, and 13. I know that IP35 Pro can go up/down in finer increment.
