I've got 3.2Ghz e2180 1.35v vcore in Cpu-Z 10x320

How is that? I haven't really played around with it, however I suspect I could hit 3.4Ghz at 1.495v in the Bios; that was a bit hot though

updated. Nice to see people are still into this thread. There are some great ocs in here, these seem like by far the best OC processors out.

I have a question when the new celeys (dual core) come out and wolfdale-L(half cache 3mb, not sure about this read it in a new thread) should I include these?

No I think they released the celeron 420 which is conroe with a disabled core. From what I've heard the are releasing celeron e1000 series which is supposed to sell for fifty-sixty dollars for the entry level.

January for the celeron. It would probably OC good, but only 512K of cache? That's worse than an AMD proc. I would also like to know when Wolfdale-L comes out.

Celerons get no love.


Celeron 420 3304 MHz 8x413 1.475V, SuperPi 512k in under 9 seconds, $23 new.
Celeron 440 3500 MHz 350x10 1.440V, Geminii cooler & quiet fans,
340x10 1.400v on small stock cooler, $33 used.
Celeron 420 3128 MHz, stock cooler and Vcore (1.30), $38 new.
Hits fsb wall in chip at 391x8.
Abit IP35-E, AB9-Pro, Fatal1ty Fi90-HD.

Here's one for a system I built for a friend...I will have another one to add (very similar, different ram though) in a week or so.

CPU:e2160 (L2)
FSB and Multi: 9x333 / 1333 fsb
Vcore: 1.344v (cpu-z idle), 1.320v (cpu-z load) - 1.365v (bios)
Mobo: IP35-e
RAM: G.Skill 2x2 DDR2 800 5-5-5-15 2v @ 800 (5:6 divider; 1:1.2 in bios)
Cooling: stock Intel HSF
Temps: Core1: 35c, Core2: 39c (idle) - Core1: 68c, Core2: 68c (load)
[max temp I've seen was 71c during Prime95 but usually hovered right at 68c-69c]

Prime95 stable 13hrs running 'Blend' test.

Since it's a friend's system, I didn't want to go above 333 - 3ghz. I will be aiming higher on mine (and will probably get an e2180 (M0) from Clubit instead of e2160 from NewEgg. ($2 more )

I have an E4300 L2 but I cant go past 3ghz with a Gigabyte 965-DS3. Any advices please?


my current settings:

300mhz * 9 @ 1.325V
FSB +0.1V
MCH +0.1V
PCI-E +0.1V
ballistix 1ghz 5-5-5-15 @ 1.9V

Question guys,

What's a safe max load temp?? I'm running the stock HSF and get low 60's for load temps during orthos and Prime. I have AS5, but unless you think it'll make a difference, I probably wont bother applying it. Also what's a safe max voltage??

In retrospect I should have gone with a 2160

Oh yes, 28C idle, 58C with 4x orthos instances. Also reported by lm-sensors.

Came across this thread while preparing my system. Thought I'd add an entry to it. My first overclock in years, so I wanted to see what I could do working within the stock voltage range. I'm content with 3ghz. (for now)

Hey guys, quick question. Feel free to go tell me to go read the guide, if you must.

I have been doing some beginning reading, and with these chips, there seems to be two ways to OC. Either you follow the full blown OC guide, but I've also seen mention to where you can change 2 settings in BIOS and end up with a fairly good OC. Can someone explain the differences in these two methods? Is the full-blown method necessary to get the best possible OC, while the "change two settings" method gets you a so-so OC?

Well... Doing a half-assed OC will most likely result in several BSODs while you get things figured out... Plus you could wear out your hardware faster.

Hey, wait a minute. You have an E6400! Out of this thread!

Anyway, since you have a E6400, you should do it the "full-blown" (IE correct) way because you will need a higher FSB to get some good overclocks.

ha, fair enough. I'm thinking about getting a 21xx for a new HTPC build and was just kinda looking ahead to what to expect when OC'ing. I remember reading several places where people commented that just by changing 2 settings, you can get a real easy/good OC with these chips. Of course, I can't find those threads now......
