They seem a bit high to me. I OC mine, granted with an aftermarket cooler, and my load temps never break 30ºC. Do you have good airflow thru the case?

Edit: just noticed you are using an aftermarket cooler... No it should not be that hot.

My overclocked e6600 runs idle in the low 50's and under orthos small ftt's goes to the upper 60's.

This is with a zalman 9700. I'm not familiar with the silent knight cooler but without overclocking those temps seem on the high side. What type of thermal compound did you use and how much did you apply.

that's amazing!!!

i assume you don't overclock, else you must have very very cool ambient temperatures wherever you are.

what's your ambient temps....this has a huge influence on temps..

also what are you using to monitor temps..some mobos report too high and some too low temp

you cant easily compare one computer vs another

canai..load temps seem to be too low from all reports I have seen with C2D that overclocked unless using chilled water/phase

air temps of 30C at load seem unbelievable

There are two things:
Maybe you put too much thermal paste, use Artic Silver 5 this is a good one. Just put a thin layer.

Maybe your voltage are too high for you current setting.

Yeah that doesnt seem right to me either. Is everyone here using the same program to monitor their temps? I'm using Core Temp.

Last night when it was cold(around 13C) with my casing open my Core temp was reading 30/34 C. Now with the casing closed and heater on im reading 42/39 with a Ninja at idle.

ambient room temp is around 15ºC, and I have it OC'd just a little to 2.8. temps taken with Everest ultimate while running rosetta@home, right now at 27-28ºC, with cores at 37-39ºC and 39-41ºC. P5W-DH chipset temp at 23ºC. I'm running a Scythe Infinity with a 93CFM 120mm fan drawing air thru it and a 78cfm 80mm intake blowing into the other side of the cooler. Idle at 24ºC

edit: unheated part of the house ftw!

edit 2: I just hit 32/46/46 with orthos... I was off by 2º

I'm running a 6600 at stock so far, but plan to start overclocking soon. Not sure what the ambient temperature is, but I'm in the basement in winter in Colorado.

Anyway, I'm using a Zalman 9500 and mine idles all day at 39-40C. Using the thermal paste that came with the HSF. Note: The first time I put it on, I didn't tighten the HSF down to the bracket all the way and it was running at 48-50C.
