for reference, my e6600 @ 3.4Ghz runs about 53-54 degrees under an orthos load with a big typhoon. i'm not sure how you are not finding a hsf that fits a 680i, they've got lots of room. my typhoon fits fine and that thing is massive.
If you run ortho small ftt (or fft's whatever it is) not blend, what is your temps?
And, what is your case temp and ambient room temp.
I'm trying to figure out if my temps are too high:
With my 9700, with a e6600@3.4 w/ 1.46 volts i idle at 54 and it goes up to mid to upper 60's with orthos, 70's with TAT's stress test.
I found that upping the volts significantly increased the heat. I reapplied the arctic silver 5 to see if that made a difference but it did not. My room temp is 75 farenheit.
My temps seem high, but i'm not sure if it's just because my room is warm or if i'm doing something wrong with this cooler. My case temp as read by a temp probe is 31c. Could my arctic silver 5 be bad? It's an older tube that i had stored with the tip down. Could TAT's readings be off?
Any ideas? Do these readings seem high given my volts, and ambient temps?
Thanks.
