E6600 vs E6700

Is it worth it to spend the extra $100 to go from the E6600 to the E6700? Is the jump from 2.40 to 2.66 GHz going to really do anything?

Nah, the E6600 is still the sweet spot for price/performance, IMO.

i had to make this choice not 2 weeks ago and i opted for the e660. it still has great overclocking potentialand will easily go above 2.66 ghz, the only question to me was whether intel were making the chips with less headroom into the e660s and keeping the highly ovwerclockable ones for the e670. in the end though i decided it just wasnt worth the price difference for such a minimal difference

Save the bucks, buy the e6600. I've got my e6600 doing 3.46Ghz, and I have a fair typical one.

I'd wait for the E6750 with a stock speed of 2.99 ghz ! The FS guys hit 3.96 ghz with the one they were reviewing.

E6750 has a stock clock of 2.67~Ghz. The one with the stock clocks of 3~Ghz is the E6850.

go for the e6600, if you have a asus mobo, it will let you overclock it with 10% with 1 push of the button, making it running at e6700 speeds. And if your a overclocker yourself, it will do 3ghz without any trouble, just up the fsb, and that's it.

Whoops your right. Don't know where I got the 2.96 from but still 2.67ghz all the way up to 3.9ghz is still pretty darn impressive if you ask me.

I got an E6600 overclocked to 3.4Ghz easily. I also have a Asus P5B-Deluxe

Is there an official release date for this..... I know its listed in the July 22 price cuts, but the preview says Q3 or late summer.....

I've heard July 22nd and if sites are getting their preview version I suspect that date might be correct.
