That's 1.45v in BIOS (with vdroop it's about 1.41v to 1.4v under load).

Note that the 8x462 was at 1.475v (BIOS).

I'm currently running ORTHOS at 7x504 @ 1.45v (BIOS), linked and synched. It's been stable for over 16 hours so far. Ram is at 1014MHz 4-4-4-12 with 2.175v.

For some unknown reason I get more stable overclocks when linked and synched.

UPDATE: 24+ hours ORTHOS stable at 7x504 @ 1.45v (BIOS), linked and synched. Ram @ 1014MHz 4-4-4-12 with 2.175v

Now I'm desperately confused... I originally had a N650-DS3 with a 6420 and 2x1GB of Patriot ddr2-800. I couldn't get Orthos stable at anything but stock so I gave up after a couple days of trying.

Now I'm building a machine for my sister and taking the opportunity to give her the tested and known-good hardware so I grabbed an IP35 Pro, e6750 and Crucial Ballistix ddr2-800 for myself. Put it together over the weekend and ran Orthos for 2hrs at 8x460 1.40v with no issues, ~50c temps with my TR Ultra 120 extreme. I'm just amazed that with my previous experience and with several of you having troubles with very similar rigs that I'm having it so easy.

Where can I get the beta BIOS and any suggestions as to where to go from here?

PS - One thing I did do is remount the heatpipe. Kept the TIM for the mosfets, ceramique for the NB/SB. Also rebent the pipe so that the sinks laid flat on the chips without issue.

What's the vdroop on your voltage at 1.40v?

have you ever heard the term "justifiable homicide"? I failed orthos at 8x451 after 2.5 hrs at 1.52v ... so I can go down below 3.6 or I can go up .01... or I can find out where you live and switch our chips while you're not at home. I like that last idea the best.

seriously, you owe it to all of us to shoot for 4ghz on air. We know you can do it!!

CPUz can't be reporting correctly, it claims 1.175v and no load fluctuation. RMClock is reporting 1.288, but it never fluctuates loaded either. Any other tool I can try to get a reasonable read on that value?

The machine is kept at ~75F ambient. The total build:
Antec P180B (new rev)
Corsair HX520
Abit IP35 Pro
Crucial Ballistix DDR2 800 (BL2KIT12864AA804)
e6750
TR Ultra 120 Extreme
Seagate 500GB (ST3500630as)
eVGA 8800 GTS 640MB

That's everything in the case (yes my DVD/CD is external )

I tried 8x480 by nudging cpu to 1.44 and bumping all the other voltages 1 setting. Orthos flakes immediately, I did it with uGuru so I don't even know if Windows will boot. I have a feeling it's my RAM though. I don't know what I should to to push it so far. There's no way to have the RAM running at LESS than FSB... sorta irritated by that.

Ok, I'm in the game. I just started to OC.

All Case fans low. Tuniq fan low

3.4 @ stock voltage. mem at 5 5 5 18.

Core Temps are 35 & 36 (then add 15 degrees, right?) so 50 & 51 under load.
Idle temps at 18 & 19 (then add 15, right)

Running Orthos now.

Update: Orthos : stopped 35 minutes at 3.4

uGuru will tell you true voltage and will also display voltage as set in the bios. you can also alter bios without rebooting if you fail orthos by using uGuru.

I hate you. I'm using 1.52vcore after vdroop and I'm still not quite stable at 8x451. About to go to 1.53...

bump up your vcore to the max value that you want it to run at 24/7 and go up in 10 mhz increments until you fail orthos blend after 10min or less, then start dialing it down until you can get 24hrs orthos stable. you'll be done in no time.

=/ my e6750 is only totally stable @ 3440~mhz with 1.46v after vdroop (about 1.5 in bios)...this is with scythe ninja and 32C idle/60C load with orthos - as reported by speedfan anyway

cant get 3.5ghz even with 1.6v... maybe a heat issue i guess

Hmmm I must've gotten a good chip ... I'm running the E6750 at 3.9ghz had it run orthos small tt for 12hours and now I'm on to my blend 5hours (still going). I thought these chips supposed to be good oc's but i guess i got lucky with mine. Well heres my specs and voltage I put:

E6750@3.9ghz Gigabyte 965P-DS3P rev3.3
1.41V(actual) idle 1.39V(actual) load 1.45V bios
Vdimm 1.9V
(measured in everest, speedfan, cpuz only gave right voltage at load)
Orthos
Blend Test Avg Temps (TR Ultra 120 xtreme)
20-25C idle, 40-45C load
Small TT Avg Temps (TR Ultra 120 xtreme)
20-25C idle, 50-55C load
Mem 1:1, 5-5-5-15,
488mhz x 8 multiplier

Hope you guys get better results after some tweaking

3.9 ghz at 1.45v in BIOS is pretty much the best OC I´ve seen with the e6750, I got mine today but I´m sure I wont be as lucky. What´s your CPU´s FPO number?

Thats what I forgot to take down before putting in the processor after testing my blend I'll take it out and probably write it down and tell you aswell ... maybe I'll just stop it now I'm getting sick of all these testings ... I know its a good overclock on air but i've been hearing that they go 4.1ghz on air, average 4.0ghz so I thought I was just average .... or maybe i misheard it for the e6850 ... this is probably max on air i can go, over this even 10mhz i get orthos failing in a minute even with voltage increase (strange) or maybe its my cheap memory ... yeah its my cheap memory coz i know my FSB wall is at around 515 ... well gl with yours

Thanks, the e6750 seem to on average overclock to about 3.6 mhz so you have a really good chip. I think the FPO number is written on the box if you bought the boxed version.

That's an awesome overclock.

I'm currently running ORTHOS at 512.5MHz x 7 = 3587MHz @ 1.475v (BIOS) 1.448 (actual) 1.416v (load)
Ram is at 1025MHz 4-4-4-12.

Damn I feel like such a noob I didn't even realize it was on the box all this time didn't really take notice. Well I stopped all my testing pulled it apart wrote down the number and I read your message and I looked at the retail box and i felt like screaming LOL. Heres the batch# L720A759. Well I was done testing anywayz maybe i'll finish with super pi probably run it at 3.85ghz 24/7 since i did my full testing on that be sure to tell us how your one goes

you are LUCKY! My computer rebooted over night. I don't want to bump up vcore any more, so I dialed it back to 3.59. I'm at 1.56vcore in bios and 1.52v vdroop right now running seti 24/7. temps only 52c load right now but that will go up to 56 or so this afternoon.

hehe, well thanks for your effort. I would be happy with just 3.4 ghz at 1.4v or so.

Because I'm on air i panic abit when I go over +.2 in vcore, my chip must be a really good one, running on stock vcore on the motherboard 1.35V bios I started my overlclock from 3.0ghz and went to around 3.5ghz in 10mhz increments before I had to up the voltage. Increasing the voltage slowly made me impatient so I put 1.60V bios to see how I would go and thats when I maxed it at around 4ghz after that I think my memory had it (damn cheap memory). So after tweaking and tweaking testing and testing I'm at my final rock solid clock speed at 3.9ghz but i'll probably back down to 3.85 since I like my system to be very stable. The one thing i'm very uncomfortable about is the northbridge .. its getting way to hot maybe thats holding me back aswell. Wtih temps mine idle at 20-25C which is hard to believe speenfan, tat, coretemp, everest are giving the same amounts ... full load at around 55C max I hope the Tjunctions are right for these chips coz if i need to add 10-15C , my chip is in the warm- hot zone

Hi, I'm recently new to overclocking her are my specs.

ASUS STRIKER EXTREME
E6750 2.66mhz
Heatsink ZALMAN CNPS9500 LED
4 Gigs Kingston HYPER X 6400 (800 mhz) SLI READY
2 x WD SATA 250g Raid 0
Thermaltake Tough Power 750 Watts
CPU CASE - NZXT HUSH
Windows VISTA 32bit (upgrading to 64bit tonight)

Orthos testing:
1st Overclocking
CPU FSB 1600(3.2ghz), MEM-667mhz(downclocked) (5-5-5-13) Ratio 5:6
VCORE - 1.32 - Orthos Crashed at 14:20 minutes
VCORE - 1.33 - Orthos Crashed at 20:20 minutes
VCORE - 1.40 - Orthos Stable for 7 Hours.
Average Temp:CPU 37'C to 45'C

2nd Overclocking
Now I finally realized what 1:1 ratio means.
CPU FSB 1700(3.4ghz), MEM-850mhz - Memory timings (5-6-6-17-2T)
VCORE - 1.41 - Orthos Stable for 10 minutes but CPU Temp hits 60'C
Average Temp:CPU 42'C to 51'C*

*System is stable with 2nd Overclocking up to now, been playing games and everything for about 4 hours. Can't run ORTHOS or SANDRA because Temp goes too high 60'C-62.

**Something strange is my Core 1&2 temps are much lower than my CPU temp. Lets say my CPU TEMP is at 45'C my core temps are at 37'C isn't it the opposite usually?

Any tips or comparable settings to test would be appreciated.

Thanks!

save your oc settings in bios. boot at default and check temps. mine runs under 20c even at 3.59 in a 23c room so it's easy for me to tell that something's not right. coretemp incorrectly displays 85c tjunction instead of 100c, resulting in the 15c temp offset. use asus probe and compare temps to others, uGuru in my abit is the only temp display other than bios for me that correctly displays temps without the 15c offset.

what is idle temp at stock? You might have really bad problems if you have a 15c offset. Zalman 9500 is not a very good OC'ing hsf so you will run very hot. I saw earlier a link for a tuniq for $45, that should help you with temps tremendously.

it runs at around 29-33'C and both cores are at 22'C thats at stock idle.

Do you mean the TUNIC TOWER 120?

Also how do you find out if you have a 15'C offset?

you have the 15c offset then. I haven't used my zalman with the e6750, but AT's cooler comparo showed that the tuniq tower had much better idle temps. I'm currently idling at 18c (33c with offset), which drops down 3c at stock.

yeah I get similar idle temps at stock voltage, i'm running it now at 3.85ghz running orthos small fft 10hrs still going, had it run 24hrs before but forgot to do a screenshot ... i'm on 52C everest, speedfan, coretemp and 48C Tat ... guessing that offset is +15 i'm at around 67 max which I can live with as i won't be loading my cpu 100% 24/7 ... or if I get too concerned I prob lap both cpu and hsf which will drop it about 5-10C as both of those didn't come completely flat ....
