49C is max at orthos blend. It fluctuates between 46-49C. My buddy has the exact same rig as me and he is 5C lower. Bastard

Ok guys this is my full system spec:

E6750 @ 3.6
MSI P6N SLI V2
Asus 8800 GTS 320MB (680/1010)
Transcend value ram (yeah I know) 2 x 1GB DDR2 800 (stock timings 5-5-5-18)
Antec P900 with stock coolers.

3DMARK06 running multiple times scores around 10900, able to play games for XX ammount of time. Orthos CPU stress test runs flawless for 2 hours. BUT I cannot pass the blend test because I don't understand what divider and memory voltage I have to use with 450 FBS and DDR2 800 memory.

I didn't bother changing the ram (currentely set to a 9:8 divider) because my system runs great for what i'm using it.

Btw, my load temperature goes up to 63C and stays there with the cpu stress test, Idle temp is still around 36 to 38C.

any help please?

Hey whats wrong with Transcend they get the job done don't they??
mine are doing fine at 980mhz 5-5-5-15 2.0Vdimm 1:1 but crucials are comin this week to keep mem a bit more stable but i got more than expected from my transcend ...

Your temps seem pretty normal to me ... what program r u usin for the temps?? I actually would've thought that you'd get higher with stock cooling, you must get really good airflow in your case, if your under 65C load you shouldn't worry too much .... your cpu would start throttling if it gets too much heat

intel doesn't have memory multipliers, just memory dividers. Run it at 1:1 and see if it will be stable. You might have to end up relaxing timings a bit and/or upping ddr voltage to run it at 450 like that.

That case is awesome. At what speed are you running the case fans?

Can't you run memory and fsb asynchronously on that mobo?

oh, yeah, that new one that they previewed on AT the other day. I think that it's a nice looking cooler, but why would you spend 40 for a cooler, 10-20 for a fan, plus shipping on both to get the same performance (at best) of a tuniq that runs 45-55 total to your front door?

ultima 90
Well it's smaller and lighter and yet gives the same performance

but my wallet will probably win out and I might just get the tuniq

question about the tuniq, the fan is encased inside?
Can it be changed?

Yes the fan can be changed. Its a standard fan that slide in and out of the tuniq. Very easy.

yeah, I took my fan out to check it out before installing the tuniq. It would be very easy to change it in the event of a failure or if you just wanted a different one in there. I think that it is great as-is, however.

Not my ideal 24/7 comp but i have hit the 4ghz (temps are a bit high)

Super Pi @ 4095mhz

http://img210.imageshack.us/im...5mhzscreenshot1ip9.jpg

Orthos run @ 4016mhz 4hours in but stopped as temps started to worry me

http://img114.imageshack.us/im...6mhzscreenshot1ui0.jpg

Now i have hit my fsb wall and have gone as far as my air cooling can get me ... i guess this is max for now ... hmmm can't wait till i get a quad .... nah better spend the money on a better gpu, i'm slowly getting there ...

You really need to wait for penryn with that great e6750 chip you have. You will be very disappointed if you go from 3.85 to 3.45 even with 2 extra cores.

my next build will probably be when the x38's and x48's are steady in the market with results, but yeah waiting for penryn to hit the markets aswell by then i'll prob have H20 setup .... but i'm happy for now just itching abit hoping to get 8800gpu soon but thats all for the time being ... but nothing i do really needs these speeds anyway just for the fun i guess

Rotnem: how much are you orthos stable on those clocks?? 39C on your motherboard ... your nb must run really hot or maybe its your gpu's ...

Just a quick update - I got my e6750 ORTHOS stable for 24 hours at 3.6GHz (8x450) 1.5v ram@900MHz 4-4-4-12 2.175v, FSB 1.4, HT 1.4v, MCP 1.5v, SPP 1.5v

Now here is the wacky thing - it previous failed at the same speed @ 1.5375v after 20h40m. The only difference were FSB 1.3, Ram 2.2v, HT 1.2v, SPP 1.4v.

I'm going to try going higher now.

"hello i read your message post, and i see you've overclocked the 6750. and also have ballistic 1066 ram.

well i have the same but ive overvclocked my cpu to 3.4 but my ram doesn't seem to like been overclocked at all. do you have any sugestions?

i read alot of reviews that it was good for overclocking, but i have my set to 1063 cant get anymore out of it, or my comp wont boot.

thanx.
paul."

ok, what are your system specs first of all? mobo/case/cpu cooler/gpu/etc. check my signature for an example. are you using 2.2 v for the memory as recommend by crucial? default is 1.8 on most boards. Also, what memory multiplier are you using, 4:5? you want to isolate your issues one at a time. Read John's overclocking thread at the top of the cpus/overclocking forum to help you get a handle on this.

i got my voltage set to 0.15, does this need to be hight to overclock the ram? as my comp wont reboot if highter the 1063. 2G ballistix 8500, 1066 i also have my 6750 set to 3.4

I'm not as familiar with the gigabyte motherboards. there is an e6750 gigabyte overclocking thread you should check out here:
http://forums.anandtech.com/me...=2094667&enterthread=y

From what I've read based upon other's posts, the gigabye .15 voltage means default + .15, which would put your ram at 1.95. You need to be at +.4 on the ram to get it to run properly. On cpu-z on my system, it shows that 1.8v gets you 5-5-5-15 at 400 mhz, while 2.2 gets you 4-4-4-12 at 400 or 5-5-5-15 at 533. If you're getting 1063 at 1.95 v then that's pretty strong.

I managed to look at all 3 once before you "exceeded your data limit". those screenshots look exactly like mine on the ram side, but they didn't show your ram voltage. They showed what they're rated at from the factory. In fact, I got the info that I gave you from cpu-z on my computer.

i'm thinking you are looking at the wrong setting. Gigabyte boards change memory voltage by .1 increments. I'm not sure what your looking at. If you look at that link BryanW gave you there is exact bios setting info lists. Take a look at that and then get back to us
