E6750 G0 with Vcore 1.4 - how far can you get?

Currently running FSB430. Temps peak at 66C' in Prime95 torture test, although most of the time 61-64C'.

So anyways, any idea how high FSB can I get with the 1.4V?

It wasn't even stable. Running 430 @ 1.45V now. Already crashed with 450 and 440. :>

I'm running a E6750 G0 Stepping @ 3.56 GHz @ 1.432 V (445 MHz FSB) with a Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme Heatsink and SFF21F fan.
My load temp is 43 C when the ambient temperature is 24 C running Orthos for 8+ hours.

I need 1.44 V to push it to 3.6 GHz and keep it stable in Orthos for 8+ hours, but I figure the voltage bump isn't worth it for the 40 MHz increase.

I'm thinking your numbers are about average for what a typical E6750 can do.

Tried both FSB440 and FSB450. Windows quickly got unresponsive so back at FSB430. Hopefully this is stable. :>

...though there's still the possibility that my Windows Vista installation is corrupted. I had one broken 1GB RAM in while I installed Vista...

not likely. more likely is you need more vcore to get it stable. mine takes 1.48 to be stable at 8x438.

why are you trying to keep vcore so low? 1.45 - 1.5 is fine as long as you have adequate cooling.

Btw. what are your system specs? Maybe your RAM is limiting you...

I agree. I needed 1.45v for 3.6OC. go for it. It'll be fine.

Edit: Should have said I'm on nearly 1.46 & have the same temps as the OP. What mobo do you have? Bear in mind that most vdrop & vdroop to some extent which will be giving your cpu less than you specify. My cpu-z reading is 1.41 which a hefty vdrop of 0.05v.

Guess Ill try the 1.45V (BIOS).

GCH +0.1
DDR +0.4 (2.2V)

FSB450 = Crashed before I got Prime running.

FSB440 = Crashed after few minutes of running Prime.

FSB430 - running Prime right now. Temps peaked at 71C'.

Lousy E6750 or is there something else I could try?

Possibly up FSB by +0.1V?

Don't do +.4v. You are overvolting!

Try these settings

CPU 1.45v
DDR2 +.3v
Gmch +.1v
450x8

if it doesnt work try the next step up on CPU 1.4625 ( i believe)

hmmmmm, did you "edit" your post on me? I don't remember you saying you were running 1.45v Don't mess with my head.

Here's what I recommend.

1) Put your your rig in your sig so we know exactly what you have.
2) Go to this thread and there is a bunch of us that will help you overlock. We all have similiar systems.

I was suggested the 1.45V so I tried it. And posted results.

But Im definetly not overvolting RAM. GA-P35C-DS3R manual says 1.8V is the stock voltage for DIMM. Crucial Ballistix are specced for 2.2V (4-4-4-12 @ 800MHz and 5-5-5-15 @ 1000MHz). Ill add my spec from work.

That board DOES overvolt the ram. The manual is wrong. You should only be using +.3v to get 2.24v. Check out that thread. There is a discussion in the last 30 posts or so.

Well, I tried +0.3V. I couldn't get even to Windows.

I just run 20 hours of Prime 95 with 1.45V and FSB430. (+0.4V for DIMM) System is stable.

But I noticed that by lowering FSB to 420 system boots lot faster. Or well, actually the speeding happens after logging in to system, software prepares LOT faster...

First I thought this was effect from 2GB vs 3GB, but it wasnt...

BTW, when you had it at +.3v did you also have +.1v on the (G)mch?

If not, I bet that's the difference. That's the way I have mine set. if you don't try it and see if it works.

What are you exact system specs? Can you put them in your sig? It would be a lot easier to make suggestions

Are you running more then 2gig of memory? Maybe that's the difference.

Notice that one of the 1GB Corsair BallistiX was broken (memtest showed errors). Getting the 4th one eventually...

ah. You did have 3 gigs. I bet that is the reason for needing more juice. You definately want to get the fourth stick of ram so you can run in Dual channel mode.

I scrolled through this thread and I must be a really lucky guy with the E-6750 I've got..

My system is stable at 3,52GHz (440x8) @ 1.32V (BIOS, Vcore at load 1.28V), E-6750 VID=1.3125V,
2x1GB Corsair XMS2 PRO DDR2-800 4-4-4-12 OCed to 880 4-4-4-10 @ 2.1V, BIOS Turbo setting on, option 1, (~8.9GB/sec read!)
GA P35-DS4 v1.0 F6 BIOS, (G)MCH +0.1, FSB +0.1V, Antec P182 (changed fans for Noctua NF-S12-800),
Thermalright Ultra-120 with Noctua NF-S12-1200.
Sapphire X1950 PRO with Thermalright HR-03.

Max in-core temp with two instances of Orthos small FFT is 63 deg.

mrfatboy, aye - well actually the memory works in flex mode. 2GB works in Dual Channel and the last 1GB is single channel. At least manual says that you can use different sizes of RAM sticks and still get dual channel to work (like 1GB and 512MB), so I presume that's the thing here...

Hmm...

I know Intel's whitepaper's specified that you could run 3 matching dimms in asymmetric dual channel on P965, & i wouldn't be surprised if that could be done for P35 too...didn't think that worked w/ mismatched sizes though.
