Thanks a lot guys.....I read all your posts and it took me about 30 minutes to get it @ 3.6.....yeah....Stabled for the past 3 days..playing crysis a lot...no crashes at all...did orthos for about 3 hours no errors...

I've got a couple of questions (dumb questions I'm sure)

1- My 2 cores are around 53-55c under full load (orthos) and my cpu is 40c.....
Idle I get 32c both cores and cpu 40c???? How come CPU temp is the same but the cores change??? I'm using Core temp .96. Speddfan 4.33, pc wizard 2008. I would think that cpu temp should match the cores???

2- I already have a front intake 120mm fan and rear 120mm outake and a Tuniq tower 120..so my cooling is ok. My psu in on the top of my case so I can't put another fan there . I've got another 120mm fan that came with my case that I could install on the side of the case just in front of the GPU card (8800 gts) to get even more cool air in the case... Would that cool off even more or it could fu%^&& up my air flow.

Thanks a million guys.....I've learned a lot from the masters.....still learning... ha ha ha

Welcome to the Forums.

1) Don't worry about that cpu temp. Just watch the cores. That's the important thing. The cpu temp sensor is mounted somewhere else on the chip. that's why they are not the same.

2) Like you said, you already have good air flow and your temps are similiar to mine (see OP). Assuming same ambient. All you can do is try mounting another fan and see what you get

good luck

Hi, i bought this mobo, and i have been overclocking it ever since, but in the past 2 months i have being using the default settings, today i decided to overclock it again, and doesnt matter how the settings i change i cant overckock it.

i change the settings for the cpu/ram/pcie and save them, but when it comes to post/windows the cpu/ram stays at default settings but the settings in the bios are altered.

can it be that the mobo is damaged somehow,or maybe the cpu?

Thanks

cpu: e4300
vga: Club3D 7600gs
ram: TEAM XTREEM DARK 2GB PC6400

I need to re-install Vista and was wondering if you guys have any problems with the 64 bit version? I play lots of games...all recent hardware.

Does it affect overclocking in any way?

Well you will see more frames/second with games under XP. But then DX10 games can only run in Vista. I am running Vista 64bit Ultimate and have yet to encounter any problems with games. I was even able to pay games from 2005 (DX8) on my machine
And see my the overclock results under Vista 64bit, scroll up a little bit

Newbie to thread, the forum, and to Over clocking.. I am trying to OC my E6750 with the GO stepping, unfortunately I the max I can is 2.77@ 347FSB. When I try to go to 350MHZ, it crashes. I am currently running Windows Vista Ultimate.

Start reading the this thread from the beginning. It is long but there is all the info you need to OC your 6570. If you have more questions come on back. Good luck.

Its a bit quiet on here, so here's a bit of noise

Not sure if this has been brought up before, but I was playing around yesterday, and noticed there's a FSB strap at FSB=417MHz.

Basically, I noticed that when you go from a FSB of 416MHz to 417MHz, there's a performance drop. The memory bandwidth drops and depending on how memory intensive your applications are, you'll see a performance drop.

Here's some figures (NB: My Memory Multiplier is set to 2.4, so the figures would be different with a different memory multiplier, although the effect would be the same):

FSB................MemTest86+ bandwith......Sisandra bandwidth......1 pass of MemTest86.......SuperPi 16M
-----...............--------------------------......----------------------......------------------------........--------------
416........................5004 MB/s.......................7329 MB/s.....................18m 13s.................7m 7.203s
417........................3522 MB/s.......................7241 MB/s.....................19m 57s.................7m 18.140s

Not sure why MemTest86+ sees such a large drop in memory bandwidth compared to Sisandra.......

Anyway, if you're running with an FSB just past 417MHz (e.g. 420MHz), you might actually be better off dropping back to 416MHz. Most applications aren't that memory intensive, but definitely something to think about !

my experience is you have to go a bit past the fsb strap..say , 425 will resolve issues. haven't tried on my p35 ds4 yet. did on my p965 ds4 and worked.

tenax@ - yep, I think you're probably right. Only thing that seems to be really badly affected is MemTest86+ which is obviously very memory intensive

For example, for 1 pass, it took 18m 13s with a FSB of 416MHz. Even with a FSB of 444MHz, it took longer, 18m 44s. But that'll be the exception. All its doing is memory accesses, so its bound to be badly hit..

Hi
I've got an e8500 on my board so I hope you don't mind me hijacking. But it's about the board really. I've updated the Bios to F10, and I'm having problems with Auto voltages. My auto voltages work fine at stock settings, but when I try to overclock. The board won't go over 1.22V for some reason. Atleast it says 1.22V PC Health in bios anyway. It will overvolt when I do it manually, but not in auto so I was just wondering if there is something I need to turn off, or whether there is something I've missed.

Any help much apprectiated.

I wonder if anyone has been able to hit 3.9GHz and/or 4.0GHz, and if so, at what voltages?

Well I finally tried overclocking my 6750. I have the F10 Bios and I have been having a hell of a time. I have gotten it to 3.1Ghz with the stock cooler. I was having problems at 3.2. I think I have 1.3875 for the CPU voltage and it has been running folding @ Home for 6 days straight at 100% CPU. I think I have the Mult at 7 the FSB @ 444 and the MEM at 1066 with a 2.4 memory multiplier. MCH @ +.1. My temps according to the easytune 5 software id 48-50C. Now that it is stable at this speed I might see what extra I can coax out of it.

Does it affect overclocking in any way?

I have a dual boot setup for XP Pro SP2 on main partition (1Tb RAID 0 2 partitions) and put Vista Ultimate 64 on the 2nd partition. Things are a bit different on it, Programs x86 directory and I think one other. Now it's Users vs Documents and Settings. And what's with this Roaming directory in the path of Users? That I would assume is for wireless stuff but apparently it isn't strictly for that.

Anyways to get back on topic, I have hit 3 things or noticed at least 3 things that...well sucks at the moment. 1) No audio driver for my Delta 66 sound card, no audio so I can't hear crap for my DAW software or anything else for that matter,
2) no driver for my MIDISport 2x2 USB MIDI interface (they've got a beta x64 XP and drivers for 32-bit though) from M-Audio. I already bitched at them saying it's been out for a year, there should have been drivers porting in lock-step with the 32-bit version, that I understood it could take a bit longer to get drivers, etc...but they'd had a year to be working on this, and 3) is Lost Planet, when I go into test mode to test performance it is showing DirectX 9.0c instead of 10.x? I assume that's due to when the game came out perhaps.

I am running pretty much MAX settings on the user interface side with 4Gb memory and it's running damn smooth! I am impressed at that but then again I have 4Gb while most will have 1-2Gb of memory and won't be overclocked either by >20%. I am participating in this customer monitoring program I came upon via www.news.com to get a free copy of Vista Ultimate 32 and 64bit from MS after doing this program for 3 months. I'll probably drop to 32bit version until they have drivers for my audio hardware for 64 then update to the 64bit version.

I haven't looked too far under the hood. I've used TweakVista.com for getting rid of the UAC annoyance, running AVast A/V on it along with Lavasoft USA's Ad-Aware and Spybot with no problems. Interesting as noted above about having different directories for 32 and 64 bit software program installs. Makes cleaning up a bit more tedious on uninstalls. It does boot fairly quick. I edited the boot order via the advanced settings to boot XP first if not in front of the PC and then used bcdedit to edit default name it gave to XP.

I also was unsuccessful getting Ubuntu 7.0.4 to run on it after the install appeared to have worked ok. It hangs during boot and drops out to a prompt. I deinstalled it till I can determine if it's the video card giving it trouble, the raid controller or motherboard or whatever else it may be.

Sorry for the long reply ;-)

well i have p35 ds3 rev 2.0 board f12 bios + e6750 and i can only reach 3.46ghz under extremely high vcore... ~1.55 in bios, ~1.5 actual, drops to 1.43 under load... i'm thinking if this could be a bios problem maybe? i think my e6750 should go higher...

Depends on your system. What are your specs? You should put them in your sig so we know what you are dealing with.

I have a GIGABYTE GA-P35-DS3L+E6750, can't run 1:1 FSB:RAM.

I've had this system for awhile and decided to overclock it finally.

I'm using Gskill PC 6400 memory, this stuff: http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16820231065

So far I set the CPU host freq to 400, and disabled all the throttling features. Multiplier is locked in at 8. Didn't touch voltages or memory timings so those should all be default. CPU-Z shows my memory @ 480mhz, 5:6 fsb/ram, 5-6-6-18-2t (CL-tRCD-tRP-tRas-CR).

Used the pc with that overclock and played tf2+ran memtest overnight, no errors at all.

In my BIOS when I look at the grayed out Memory Freq number the it shows 800 and 960- left to right. When I mess with the host frequency or System memory multiplier number the only number that gets adjusted is the one on the right- the one that's currently 960.

When I set System Memory Multiplier to 2 (so I get 1:1 FSB/RAM), the 960 changes to 800 and I can't boot at all. My computer will attempt to POST, then automatically reset to what worked before (man I love these new motherboards that don't make me use jumpers!).

Anyway what gives? It makes no sense how an option that seems to lower my memory frequency makes it so my computer can't boot though I'm sure I'm overlooking something. I still don't know how these clocks are calculated.

Should I change any memory settings or voltages? I still have performance enhance set to Turbo in case that matters.

You need to set all the settings and voltages manually. At the beginning of this thread all the settings are listed.

I'm not sure what that mobo sets the ram voltages to but the P35C overvolts so check that out also and make sure you are getting the correct voltage to your ram.
