Did anyone print the page (on the day of the ad) and take it into a Brick & Mortar for them to honor the 139.99 price? Might have been a method to get it at 140 without the intercept if they honor their websites prices.

This business about the chips being "recalled" because of a defect sounds like a (wishful thinking) internet rumor. Some dumbass CSR lied about the real reason and now the rumor is spreading from one Hot Deals forum to the next.

The chips are going back to save TD a bunch of money. They stand to loose something like $50/chip and the package recall will only cost them a small fraction of that. Very simple.

Like I said - I need the FPO/BATCH# code to judge if these are "fixed" later e8400's
THE PACK DATE MEANS NOTHING - tho with that late date I'm sure its current stock
I would also like to see what week is shipping now anyway.
Lag is 1-2 weeks presently, so I would guess Q816xxxx

Aside from that - you are one lucky mofo
I love it you beat those bastards - lol

Looks like this is the week for price errors
Dell home just had the e6850 for $99 (also stackable 10% or 25% coupons)
One guy got one for ~$80 shipped
Lasted a few hours only.
These guys still waiting to see if THEY ship

Edit:
http://www.teamnexgen.org/foru...tel-cpu-fpo-batch.html

HOWTO: Read an Intel CPU FPO/Batch Code
Example: L707A723 ---

1st letter or digit = plant code: (Malaysia)
0 = San Jose, Costa Rica
1 = Cavite, Philippines
3 = Costa Rica
6 = Chandler, Arizona
7 = Philippines
8 = Leixlip, Ireland
9 = Penang, Malaysia
L = Malaysia
Q = Malaysia
R = Manila, Philippines
Y = Leixlip, Ireland

2nd digit = Year of production: (2007)

3rd & 4th digits = week: (7th week )

5th - 8th digits= lot number: (723)

10th - 13th digits = serialization code (---)

Thank you.
Yeah good chip - manuf 2nd week in Mar 2008, Malaysia

And FWIW - partial GOOD NEWS!!!
Peeps on SD in midwest (closest to depot) are reporting getting their chips even tho they were recalled.
>So now I will have to perform Hari-Kari

I am now thinking Crapusa thought better about all the bad kharma and decided to bite the bullet.
Lets say 1000 folks bought chips @$60 loss, so thats $60,000 - just peanuts really to a multimillion dollar company - right?
Think what they pay for advertising.

What a load of BS. So you have to spend your personal time telephoning them just to get stinking $10 credit. This company gets more and more sordid. They disgust me. No wonder TD is considered such a terrible company by most people.

It also bugs me that they are sitting on the INTERCEPT REQUEST until the last second. This bugs the heck out of me because sometimes I specifically arrange to be home for delivery by looking at the UPS tracking. Sometimes I use vacation leave to get this done. If I waste vacation time for nothing, it really bugs me.

Got the email also. ...only mine is different.

Dear CompUSA.com Customer,

We regret to inform you that an error was made in shipping your recent order for the Intel CPU. Fortunately we realized that the wrong part was on its way to you and were able to redirect the package back to our warehouse prior to delivery. Unfortunately due to the high demand on the product you ordered we actually ran out of inventory. We strive for 100% accuracy and apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Please rest assured that we will promptly issue a full refund to your method of payment.

Those bastages are lying sacks of $HIT! Shipped the wrong part??? What a load of crapola.

All they had to do was say they made a pricing mistake. Done. The $10 they are offering is actually a nice gesture...but it's totally defeated in my case by the outright lie.

No way I'll shop with those jerkoffs after this. Only way I'll ever buy something from them again is if it's a killer deal...so obviously they won't make money off me.

I also got this same insulting email from CompUSA. My package should be delivered tomorrow - and I will be home all day. As soon as the nice man in the brown uniform drops the package off, if he drops it off...my YMMV will be no more....

Based on prev posts from around the web - if it comes, you better be there to receive the package(s) the FIRST time
Then tell the UPS guy he got there just in time - you are leaving right now for a 3 week vacation in Sweden!
Heh - lol

Edit:
Off topic, but PC Club and Clubit filed for bankruptcy today. B&M shut tight and names taken down from building.
If you have something pending - I would worry.

My pain on missing out on this deal as I'd just ordered an E8400 recently is lessened by reading all the excitement concerning these shipments. I mean really - package intercepts??? Wtf, CompUSA overkill much? Given how much good will you could have earned from letting these deals go thru, a really boneheaded move. Oh and this one killed me:

Damn that is harsh! If your times are accurate you missed him by only 7 minutes. Bet you really hate rush hour traffic now.

I wonder if ordering more than just the CPU - or two - improves the chances of delivery? I ordered a mainboard also.

I had mine sent to my office as well. No redirect message for me, but there is no update since 12am this morning (13th). I ordered 2 just to get free shipping and the $20 Paypal rebate.

My neighbour witnessed the delivery and the return of the UPS man. Seen him take the package off my porch and leave in his truck. Im debating on calling the police because that item was delivered and then taken off my property. Is this a theft?

I made sure to get out of work early to come home. Glad I did, picked up the package on the porch. A couple of hours later, UPS man came knocking and I didn't open the door.

This is a total fiasco. They should have taken the high road and simply cancelled orders. This lying, cheating and sneaking back to take packages is pretty sad.

My package has survived departure scans at three different depots since the intercept was requested. It is at the local depot now and will go out on the delivery truck tomorrow. It was shipped to my parents' house because i am never at my home during the day. I will instruct them that if the driver delivers it and then returns to reclaim it they are to say it is no longer on the premises.

Yes. And that is why I replied to his email...

Your company should learn to be honest. Because what
you said...

"We recently sent you an E-mail about canceling your
order for the Intel CPU. We apologize for not being
able to fill your order at this time as demand quickly
outpaced our stock."

... is simply not true.

Many of your customers who ordered the Intel cpu's
have said that they shipped, and your company
intercepted shipments and had them sent back to you.

Just tell the truth. It was a pricing mistake.

While some might perceive your company's actions as
questionable, the followed dishonesty regarding the
situation makes others who are more level-headed
question your company's judgment as well.

WOW...glad TD wasn't losing a lot more on these CPUs at $140, UPS would drive down your door with BIG BROWN (i.e., their delivery truck) to get back the package.
