In for one, hope it goes through! I canceled my moogr.com order, they were taking way too long to process.

Looks like the very beginning of widespread availability (most Fry's seem to have hundreds in stock now). A few months from now folks won't even mention E8400s anymore, other than on the FS/FT forums.

yes that is how it works... alot of people need the latest and greatest. And if i was building now this would be pretty good chip.

tempting price, but the Q6600 is suppose to drop to $220 in the 3 weeks. for $20 more, might as well go quad if you can wait that is.

You should watch more closely here
Fry's had the Q6600 for $179 - and of course they went out the door like mad
http://forums.anandtech.com/me...=2170576&enterthread=y
And wouldnt you rather have a Q9300 Yorkfield for $279?

I know there are people here who work for Intel, and it would be nice if they could let us know whats really going on. A poster on HD yesterday gave a link that noted Intel was making 100,000 45nm cips per DAY, thats 3.1 million a month. So, why are all the vendors reporting that they really cant get any quantity and "I've never seen it this tight". And why are OEM chips showing up all of a sudden?

Clubit now has them at $5 cheaper, but $5 shipping ($194.99 + $4.99)
http://www.clubit.com/product_...l.cfm?itemno=CA1938469
Edit: Clubit just raised price $20

Obviously Intel made a big boo boo as a marketing strategy to send samples to the review sites and let out "some" for separate component sales at under $200 but way too soon. That made it very hard to sell the old inventory to the enthusiast crowd.

I'm so glad I got lucky and got the very last Retail E8400 from a MicroCenter nearest to me.

Intel's just hoarding the E8400's to try to sell off their 65nm stock. They're up to their old games again since they're kicking AMD's ass now. We really need AMD to to step up the competition and we won't see this kind of bull$#!t from Intel again.

According to the Intel executive, 72 different 45 nm models are currently shipping and the firm?s four fabs in Oregon, Arizona, New Mexico and Israel are churning out 100,000 processors each day

Intel churning out 100,000 45 nm processors every day

It's called business.

It is a shame that AMD has fallen behind so drastically but that's the way the cards fall.

The amount of processing power that $200 buys now is un-fricking-believable.

Ordered an OEM 8400 from tank guys for $209 + shipping on Sunday afternoon 3/30 and had a tracking number and shipment notice within 4 hours (on a weekend!!). Their reseller ratings are a solid 10.
While on the website I aso saw the OEM processor had a year warranty. Check before you buy but I think that's accurate info.

No it isn't. CPU's have been in existence for only tens of years....barely off the gorund and most certainly in its infancy. Read your quote about ten years from now, I am sure you'll have a great chuckle....

The E8400 OEM is back stock at newegg still $199.99 shipped. Ouch! they raised the price on the heatsinks, I guess they must be selling a lot of those OEM processors.
