i have a 7200. am currently running it at 1.217 volts, and have it currently overclocking at 390 * 9. Prime95 (x2) stable for 24+ hours, cores are never above 44C (using the big honking 2 x120mm hs that's been advertised a bajillion times on here (bought 2 for 2 different systems), although the name escapes me ATM [gemini??].
and that's on an abit IP-35E, which for some reason has just decided that it no longer has a gbE port on it (doesn't even show up in the post IRQ list).
i think the 7200 is capable of more, but i don't think i'd see a practical difference between 3.5 and 3.8.
my 7200 is a M0, stepping 6 fwiw.
can you get the same equivalent performance increase out of a 8400? (approx 50% o/c?) also, would it behoove me to upgrade to an 8400 from a 7200 to get the 6mb cache versus the 3mb cache? any noticeable difference?
i have a second system with a 2160 in it that's running at 3.2 (also on air). i was thinking about pulling the trigger on the 8400 for that system, since that'd be a bump from a 1mb (insert sad face here) cache to 6mb. i'm sure that would show a performance increase.
