Yeah but that's not as important as 2 extra years of warranty when most people will be shortening its life by overclocking it.
when's the last time your chip died from overclocking?
my old e6700 that i gave to my friend is still running at 3.2 with no problems.
Pus if you have any ethics or morals when you OC it you have voided the warranty.....You kill it and its your fault...
For ppl buying with intent to oC they should only buy oems. Save the 20 dollars from OEM to retail to put towards a good aftermarket HSF.
My E6600 (first core 2 duo) was a retail because that is all I could find when I pre ordered it. Otherwise I try to get an OEM from a reputable dealer.
Morals or ethics? Are you high?...LOL. With the price they get off our cores and the FEW people that have the balls to overclock. They owe me another chip. But I've never had one die from overclocking anyway. I can assure you though, if I do I'll exhibit the morals and ethical standards of a $2 hooker who's been going through withdrawals for the last 10hrs looking for a crack fix...ROFL
Don't forget they make 8-10Billion a year. I don't feel a bit sorry about my lack of morals or ethics. Payback for price gouging me all these years, and killing off competition from AMD. Which again is leading to price gouging. Server chips were already increased 20% on some models. AMD can't keep up so now we're looking at $250 for an E8400 when it was stated they'd sell for $189. I know it's not Intel doing this to us at this time (e8400 I mean, the servers WAS THEM), but if they want me to be morally correct clamp down on vendors screwing me out of $60! I'd expect all chips to hold steady or rise as Intel continues to kill AMD this year. Once nehalem hits the early XMAS gifts we're getting now will be OVER. Expect an arm and a leg for Nehalem. There goes my 6 month cpu upgrade cycle
Oops forgot to add: Where were their morals and ethics when they were paying people to not use AMD? Or threatening people who put out motherboards that supported them? Remember white box ASUS boards (K7M? A7M, can't remember)? I owned one! They were not even advertised on their website. If i hadn't been a reseller I wouldn't even have found out about them probably. Korea, Japan, Germany and now EU are all calling them a monopoly (convicted, with office raided and everything). What goes around comes around. I'd say the same with Microsoft. Do I care about people pirating their software? Not a chance. 95% of those doing that can't even afford it anyway (and yes, I own legit copies for my PC's...But only because they give them to me at MS meetings or I get them through an action pack subscription). If I wasn't in a PC business I'd probably be the pirate (well, until they released an OS that was worthy of paying for...Looking at vista I'd say XP rev2 with AERO and DX10 would be that OS). I could go on and on, but I'll stop my diatribe and spare you all...
