I would like to see this stand up in court. I don't see how you can be banned from playing a game by saying/typing anything.
It's in their EULA, but i'm wondering how it could stand up in court... it's dumb because you give them your money first before you agree to the EULA.
This probably happens because your EA Community account is the same account that you use to purchase DLC and log in with the game to authenticate the DLC, especially on PC. Having your account banned can affect your ability to purchase new DLC with the same account.
I highly doubt you could be completely locked out of a game by having your account banned. EA games -- or at least, BioWare's games -- do not require you to be logged in just to play the game. Woo's words are "it could affect your access". Not totally ban. So stop blowing what he said out of proportion unless you can come up with an actual example of someone who lost his ability to play the game or DLC content he paid for because of an EA Community ban.
After actually looking at the thread this came up in, it would seem that someone cannot activate Dragon Age 2 because his account is banned. While this does not absolutely prevent him from activating the game (he could simply make a new account and activate the game with that) it does separate him from using any downloadable content that was registered to the previous account.
I think this is just an unfortunate coincidence caused by an overall bad system. Reading over the EULA, it does not seem that EA threatens to ban you from playing your own game. It does threaten to remove your "entitlements", which include but are not limited to "paid and free downloadable content, unlockable content, digital and/or virtual assets, rights of use tied to unlock keys or codes, serial codes and/or online authentication of any kind, in-game achievements and virtual or fictional currency not otherwise governed by a Digital Services Agreement."
You know what...EA does threaten to remove your ability to play content you paid for. Simply for misconduct on the community forums.
Forget blowing out of proportion. This is wrong and should be illegal.
this... this post is scary... no one on this forum ever calls bullshit then does research and changes their mind...

No, EA is the SECOND worst thing to happen to gaming. Next to Activision. :sneaky:
