I think I may have an ear infection, does anyone have any suggestions for making it go away, other than going to a doctor?

Best to see a doctor for antibiotic if it is an infection (they could use a needle to drain it if require). Your family physician can send you to see a specialist if it something eles.

Ilost part of my hearing permanently out of my right ear due to an ear infection. The infection broke after it grew to the size of a large egg 3-4 hours after I saw the doctor, and he the informed me that I don?t need to have it drain because bursting is imminent. It was the most pain that I have endured (worst than a broken leg). I couldn?t walk straight, or see clearly, and the sight of puss & blood coming out of my ear for 2 days didn?t help my morale at all.

If you let an ear infection go untreated, you may end up with permanent ear damage. You should head to the doctor...and if money is the concern, antibiotics are fairly inexpensive.

Hope you feel better!

try a 50/50 solution of white vinegar and rubbing alcohol, its supposed to prevent swimmers ear, but ive used it to treat what i thought might be an infection and it seemed to work

go see the doc, wouldnt want something really bad to come out of it and you lose your hearing in an ear. Now that would suck

Wow. How long did you have the infection before you went to the doctor? I just don't want to go as I don't have insurance right now, and I don't have a lot of money to spend if I can help it. But I would rather not lose my hearing...

I had one when I was young. We went to the pharmacy and asked for an ear infection medicine. So when we put it in my ear, that thing tickles so much. It took a few days for it to work.

Thanks for the advice everyone, I think I'm going to try and get some sleep. If I'm not feeling better tomorrow, I'll stop by the doctor's.

I think the doctor claimed that it was a very addvance infection that developed for 7-9 days.

I thought that it was a common cold/flu, and I couldn?t get away from my job because I was the manager of the operation where I work. I waited till Saturday to see the doctor, and by that time it was too late (I couldn?t walk straight or drive & had to call a cab to take me to the doctor clinic).
