I hope not. With our technology and newfound way to be an interconnected community, I would hope true democracy can be realized. Monarchy has so many problems, as does a hierarchical representative system.

The only way it would really work is if someone was powerful enough to rule the world with enough fear. Even then, I'd bet that rebellions and people would break off from the norm. It's bound to happen, there are always people who disagree.

Our cultures are still far too different to make anything like this possible anytime soon. But I have no doubt that as time goes on, and as cultures blend, it will happen in some way shape and form.

I dont know, the ideological melting pot that is the United States doesn't get along very well, and we have one single government bossing us around.

I think the internet brings people together under a one nation mentality. At least thats always been my belief. As more and more generations grow up on the internet, they will not feel distanced from that person in asia or south america. As far as a government, I think it will inevitably follow.

Yeah, but is basically a plot device to have everyone speak English. Star Wars had different languages regularly. SG-1 and Atlantis really have never come up with a good excuse.
