I already ordered it today. I checked with both companies if I can get the two rebates. So you will get $225 rebate. It is a one year commitment with Earthlink but after that it will be month to month. Performance will vary according to location.

Ther service plan is 49.95/month. Earthlink CSR told me that included tax but the getconnected.com said it didn't. So I am not sure about the tax thing.

Also be careful because in order to use the 175 rebate you need to have your DSL CLEC be Covad, thats how EL screwed me over They used pacbell instead.

Your title is misleading. You don't pay $31/month, all you get is rebates. Please include this in your post.

Btw, isn't the modem supposed to be free w/ 1 year contract? So why is there a $175 rebate?

The new modem is free, but if your an old northpoint customer you can send in your old modem and covad will send you $175 for it.

Well it is $600 for DSL for a year. With Rebates back you pay 375 for DSL for a year. After that maybe DSL will be cheaper and you will at month to month. Northpoint was better because I had it for a year for free. Maybe that is why they went bankrupt.

This is not bad considering what else is offered out now. For us northpoint users, the DSL modem was free. What I am going to do with the SDSl modem if the isp doesn't use> Why as well get some money back for it. Granted earthlink might not offer the best performance but hey 31/month. Same your life instead of watching the pages load up on a 56K. There beter things to do than to wait for the internet to load.

I compared it to other ISPs in the LA area. Didn't seem like there was anything cheaper than this deal for northpoint customers.
