I beg to differ, when it comes to big destructive earthquakes, 5.9 on the Richter scale is pretty small. And for those that root for a non destructive earthquake, a large number of small earth quakes in the form of aftershocks, is far less destructive than one larger earthquake.
But Baja California is an opening rift valley that will continue to produce Earthquakes for millions of years into the future. And sooner or later the bulk of the West Coast of the State of California will part ways with the rest of the State.
