with it being so loud in there they probably wouldn't even notice it.

Unless the epicenter was a lot closer to them. The vendors though would feel it before the fans and players would notice.

Oakland is about 35 miles from Milpitas..they likely felt it too but yeah being in the arena it's probably hard to detect.

I'm in Mountain View. It was a pretty good sized roller. I was just sitting here at the computer and all of a sudden it felt like my chair was rolling up and down. Was weird.

Heh...maybe you should invest in a 3G/UMTS phone.....my iPhone didn't work at all....swapped sims into the Treo 750 and I can make outgoing calls again but only on the 3G network. GSM is swamped.

ROFL! I thought similar things when it first happened...

I'm in Modesto, and was on the 2nd floor of the college Architecture building, which is a commercial/industrial type of building, built of structural steel with concrete over steel floors.
I was sitting in a drafting chair and the initial jolt moved my chair several inches...
Campus security cancelled all classes and closed the campus until tomorrow...<insert frustration smilie> robbed me of over an hour of drawing time...the bastages...

I can't find anything on that site. Once I find the 'did you feel it' link I can't get back to the general map.

After reading comments and reports I think I was the only person who ran to a TV to keep it from falling over. Just bought a new 52" samsung and I can barely sleep at night for this very reason.

I was out at dinner in Los Gatos and it wasn't too bad. Heck I kept eating through it while people went running out the door.

My roommates up here in San Jose said it was a lot stronger and they were freaking out a bit. No damage luckily.

AT&T Edge was working for me. I got to check my gmail =). That's how I got the email from my mom. She freaked out and she hid under the table.

I was in one of the most unsafe buildings ever in campus. I did manage 2 separate rings to go through but each time the calls dropped, so I had to redial. I finally got a call from my mom ~ 8:30 and it was from her cell (AT&T just like me).

We even felt it 35 ~ 40 minutes South of you (along 99). My mother is the one who identified it as an earthquake, I thought it was just a semi truck driving by the house or something. I was standing in the kitchen watching TV, while she was sitting in the recliner. She felt her chair jiggling back and forth.

She said, 'there's an earthquake', kind of excitedly. I replied, 'Is that what it was? I thought it was a big truck driving by.' lol!

Then I saw the pull-chains on the ceiling fan swinging back and forth about 1/4 inch from center (the fan was off).

Heh...to apple's credit though, I routinely use the iPhone more over the Treo 750 despite the 750's 3G b/c Safari and the email client just kick so much more @ss.

Yeah, but my iPhone wouldn't even connect. I'd just get call failed after call failed. Same thing on the Treo until I enabled 3G/UMTS. UMTS has far far more capacity it seems, plus not as many are using it right now.

Hmm I meant using EDGE for data connection. How do you make a clal using 3G anyways? I'm thinking of getting a 3G phone soon (SE K850i)

Heh...I couldn't even send an SMS over EDGE/GSM. If you have a 3G phone that supports ATT's 3G bands (850/1900MHz) then it'll usually prioritize 3G over GSM, so if it finds a 3G tower, it'll use that and fallback on GSM only if it needs to. And yes, if you're in a call, it'll hand off from 3G to GSM without a hitch.

From the Mercury News

And the Hayward Fault, which most seismologists suspect of being the site of the Bay Area's next 'Big One,' is primed and ready.

Two weeks ago, earthquake experts gathered in a Hayward museum and pointed out that the Hayward Fault has a major earthquake every 140 years.

This October marks year 139.
