Sunglasses are imho one of those things that are very hard to purchase online. You sort of need to see how the fit and look before making the purchase. Pretty hard to tell from a 1x1 picture.

I bought my polarized sunglasses at a Chevron station in town, and I honestly think they're better than 70% of the other polarized sunglasses out there, at least for me. But maybe I'm just cheap.

Thanks. Their store in Paramus, NJ is right near me. I don't think they have any other stores, do they? Anyway, they should kick back some of the money to me

Yeah, I have these Maui Jim's (the top one on the page - the black ones). They are the best sunglasses! We do business with them (Mercedes Championships) so I got a nice discount

Don't forget your propeller hat

I spoke with my local pimp and he said that these are the she-he-it!
I also ordered a new suit for myself to match my sunglasses here

I have also decided to change my username to "G-Money"

Within one week I will command the respect I deserve!

Whenever I buy sunglasses online, I take a pic of myself and then photoshop a pic of the sunglasses onto my face. It sounds corny, but it gives you a really good idea of what they'll look like.

Also: I bought a pair of Vuarnet sunglasses from Campmor a year or so ago and have been very happy with them. Campmor is an excellent place to shop at.

...o lah to the author of this 'hot deal' ...ok ok...I feel compelled to say I bought one pair; no I won't tell you which model but I will tell you that one element in my calculus of purchase was this now defunct division of Polaroid is, well, Polaroid. (oh gosh, did I say that?) The first really sunny day in Southern California and I just go bonkers.

They are my new pair of running glasses and I'm sure they're either going to be a hit or the biggest laugh evoker in my noon group. Check them out! They're some really interesting glasses that you'd ordinarily pass on if you had to fork out the suggested retail of $129 +....lol, that's why they're here for 14.95...shipping 5.95 and no tax in CA

BTW, if you use them for sports, you want them to be plastic...they're light.

nothing like a rappin blublocker dood to get me into one o those.. well not really..

maui jims are really nice, but i jumped on one of the earlier ones and the lens are heavy as hell.. good shades, just too much pressure on my nose. now i got a polarized oakeys, which are really nice.

as for the xoor sunglasses, they remind me of the special promotional offer, where you only pay shipping to get $200 shades, thing you find in your mags sometimes.. but hey, i'm sure peeps have done that, and for about 20 a pop shipped, would be a good deal, if looks half descent on ya ^ ^

Check out sierratradingpost for much better polarized glasses. There is a 5 percent off code somewhere and a free shipping riddle.

In short polarized lenses cut down glare. I know fishermen who use them to see through the top part of the water in a lake. My car reflects the speaker covers on my dash onto the front windshield, if I have polarized lenses on I cant see this reflection. It doesnt cut down some reflections though, its not like xray goggles, but I will never buy normal glasses again. If you want to see them in person most eye glass shops have displays. http://travel.howstuffworks.com//sunglass4.htm there is even a video of how they work.

Yep...you're just cheap

Actually, I watch for deals from my local eyecare places (ie- Lenscrafters, DOC, etc) for when they have "free sunglasses with perscription purchase". I renew my contact lenses and get me a free pair of $80 sunglasses that way.

I agree that the frames don't look too hot, but the XOOR polarized lenses are pretty good.

I used them for a year and I was very happy with them .. they were in my car when I dropped my Camry off for an oil change at Stevens Creek Toyota and they were never seen since ..

Polarized lenses cut off some kinds of glare and IMHO are a well worth getting. For example, you can often see the reflection of the top of your cars' dashboard on your windshield on most sunny days .. you wear the polarized lenses and woom! these reflections are completely invisible.

These prices are good, pity about the frame designs ..

good post!

I have to think that most of you looked at a couple pairs of the XOORs, saw the ugly frames, and dismissed the deal. I looked at all of them and ordered four nice ones. I got them all today.

The two metal-framed pairs I got are quite nice: one silver frame, one black, both with mirrored lenses, spring-loaded hinges and what seem to be glass lenses. The black ones look like one of the "Matrix" styles. The plastic-framed pairs are ok, and the build quality is nice, but only one has spring-loaded hinges. And contrary to the way it seemed from the pictures, they're not overly large. In fact, I don't like them as much because they're a little on the small side. Optical quality on all of them is on par with any $100 sunglasses.

All in all, I'm very happy with the purchase. These make a nice addition to my collection of Oakleys, Maui Jims, Hobies, Gargoyles and Serengetis. Now I should really find a rack to hold them all. Heh.
