a hole below the rear door on the drivers side of my pt cruiser. its no real huge but it needs taken care of before inspection. I really don't care what it looks like as long as it get fixed. its 2002 with 130,000 miles on it and it will run until dies, I won't get anything out of it selling or trading so it just needs a patch job at this point.

sand it completely and get rid of all loose pieces and get down to clean metal. Then sand it some more...

Then get your bondo ready and apply!

Look up some online guides. Its actually crazy easy once you do it once. If your OCD you could grab some scrap and practice on it.

Then match up paint and go from there.

How big of a hole are we talking about? Bondo works great for small things but for a big hole it will probably crack unless you do something to support it.

I did a real half assed job on my beater caravan's 1/4 panels a few years ago using chicken wire, card board, and bondo. I didn't even bother to sand the bondo after I was done lol. Everybody on here gave me shit about it and told me it wouldn't last more than a year. Well it is still working.

Other side wasn't as bad but was still pretty bad lol. The cardboard which wasn't in that pic keeps the bondo from just pushing through the chicken wire.

Chicken wire + Bondo = win!

they care about holes in the door at inspections?

if it's a dry cavity i'd fill it with some fiberglass or something so it will hold up a piece of metal to patch the hole ( like part of a coke can ).

It's a pt cruiser, just get a can of expanding foam and spray it in the hole and paint it. No one will ever notice on a pt cruiser.

What kind of hole is it?

Also, your state has vehicle inspections for something other than re-titling a vehicle from out of state?

Actually thought about filling with spray foam. The hole is about a inch wide and 6 inches long at least. Yeah PA has yearly inspections, they check brakes, windshields, emissions(were I am at they just check to see if the stuff is intact not if it works.), Lights, tires and if you got holes in your body. Probably more stuff as well. Basically a safety check.

Its a 2002 with 130000 miles I really do care what it looks like, just that it runs and passes inspection.

i ran my old datsun 210 through the inspection station here in az (the car was from colo.) without a passenger side door. it passed.

as for the issue, either get a piece of fine steel mesh and shape it to your needs and bondo, or makeshift something with cardboard/ plastic that will do it as well. or hit up the local papers and find an out of work mechanic that is looking for side jobs, they will likely do it cheap.

There's always aluminum body tape as well. Just throwing it out there.

I'm still trying to picture where this hole is. Is it on the rocker panel below the bottom of the door, or on the dog leg/rear quarter where the door arches?

dude a patch panel should be like $25. Buy one, cut out the rot, cut the patch panel to shape, weld it on, sand it down, and paint it.

We don't for the most part. I've never had a vehicle inspected. They do have a cursory inspection for when you re-title a vehicle from out of state, but thats it.
