East coast beach house rental?

Can anyone make any recommendations on places to look for a beach house rental at? I wanted to go to Holden Bean, NC, but I haven't been able to find any rentals open the week we want to go, and that accepts a small dog.

We're looking at Sept. 2/3-8th. I looked at Virginia Beach too, but would prefer a quieter place like Holden. Florida would work also.

I haven't been in several years, but I always liked Ocean Isle, NC. It doesn't have the commotion that Myrtle Beach has, but there has been a lot of development there. Lots of house and condo rentals. Might be worth checking out.

My friend rents out a place in Ocean City, Maryland.

The outer banks, Nags Head area is always great. Less commercialized than the Virginia Beach area and the sanddunes are the coolest ever.

We have a house on Oak Island, North Carolina, though we're selling it this year. We've been going down for 12 years now and it was absolutely serene until about 2 years ago when everyone must have discovered the beach exists or something. We went down this year and it was like Myrtle Beach... people with their massive tents, massive umbrellas, screaming children, etc. Worst part was we pay quite a bit extra for a beachfront house and there were constantly people using our stairs and parking themselves right in front of them like they owned the place.

Good to know! We were looking there, but I guess I will stop. Holden beach is still quiet as far as I know.

My parents are staying on the Outer Banks around Okracoke this week. I know that there were a lot of condos in that area that allowed pets.
