Thanks Ryland, that's a good deal. I've been thinking about buying a license for a while, I've been using the free version of their software. I'm not a huge fan of it, but it's the best tool I've found for reliably backing up up entire systems such that if something happens to a hard drive you just pop in a new one and restore the entire thing in relatively little time.

Thanks to the OP for the heads up. However, I've got a little something to add to this deal.

Earlier today I saw this thread and while I've used other EaseUS products, I've never tried this backup, so I googled it to try and find out a little bit about it and in the process came across this link:

http://malwaretips.com/threads/easeus-todo-backup-home-8-2-free-license.43971/

While $10 is a good price, Free is just a little better. I downloaded it according to the info provided and activated it with the free code and it is now up and running, so I can vouch that it is still valid.

IDK man...a .info address that's in Russian seems a little sketchy. I mean free is great but your link didn't really provide a lot of positive feedback. There was only one reply and it was posted today.

Yep, doesn't seem legit, but I'll take a look at it later.

Also, why would one have to go to that russian site to get the code anyway? The thread you linked to includes the code, you can just download the trial version and then use the code provided in that thread. I'm guessing it's just a leaked/stolen key, but you never know, maybe it's legit.

Legally free is definitely better and that would have been nice to grab but I dont mind giving $10 for a product that works. I switched from Acronis True Image a few years back when it got seriously bloated and haven't had any issues with TodoBackup.

Well, you are certainly entitled to your opinions and concerns and I'm not compelled to attempt to change your mind, however, for the benefit of others that might be wondering, I'll address some of the points you've raised.

As far as legit, the site that I found it on, Malwaretips, I've gone to in the past on multiple occasions when looking for tips on removing assorted bugs from neighbor's PCs therefore I am personally familiar with it. I've never had a problem there that I'm aware of.

As to the concerns about the Russian site, well, you actually addressed the solution yourself...since the S/W download link is on the Malwaretips page and the Activation Code is visible by clicking on the spoiler tab on the same page you don't even have to visit the Russian site.

That said, here is a link to a "Google Safe Browsing Diagnostics" done on the site that I stumbled across. I wasn't aware that these types of analysis were done by Google, so it was kinda neat to find it. The site is not perfect, but probably not the worst one out there.

http://www.google.com.sg/safebrowsing/diagnostic?site=comss.ru/

I have activated this code on three computers and plan on installing it on several others (all personal computers & laptops at home). The thread at Malwaretips states that the activation code is the same for everyone. That does not make it bogus or stolen, in fact, that is a pretty common practice for companies giving out free copies of their software. In addition, I have also updated the software after the activation without any issues so again, I have no reason to believe that it is a stolen key. I would think that three activations and upgrades from the same location with the same key should have generated questions if it were a stolen or leaked key.

In the end everyone will need to decide for themselves whether or not this is legit. All I can say is that based on my experience so far it seems to be valid.

And once again, thanks to the OP (Ryland), as I wouldn't have run across this if he hadn't started this thread.

Just want to state this again, in case anyone missed it...

Since the S/W download link is on the Malwaretips page and the Activation Code is visible by clicking on the spoiler tab on the same page you don't even have to visit the Russian site.

And thanks to Reefa for pointing out that I can upgrade my sons desktop and my gaming laptop for free to Todo Backup 8.2. Home and I successfully updated them to 8.2.1. At this point I spent $10 and have it on 3 computers, not bad.

Sorry, I didn't mean it to sound like I was questioning you, it just seems like a rather strange deal for the company to offer it for free through some obscure site without it being on lots of other legitimate (more well known) sites. Either way, I snagged it , appreciate the deal, link and info!

Thanks OP and Reefa.

Hey, no need to explain and I certainly didn't take it personally.

I completely understand why you would be apprehensive. If I hadn't had prior experience with the site Malwaretips I'm sure that I would have approached it with the same caution/questions you did.

Glad to hear that it worked out for you, as well.

BTW, I benefited from this thread in several ways beyond the free S/W activation. I discovered the existence of not only the "Google Safe Browsing Diagnostics", but also "Norton Safe Web Report". The one for Malwaretips is linked below.

https://safeweb.norton.com/report/show_mobile?name=malwaretips.com

and related "Community Reports"...

https://safeweb.norton.com/reviews?url=malwaretips.com

I'll have to remember these in the future when I have questions about an unfamiliar site.

Just a bump 'cause this is still alive.

Activated it with free code on another PC today.

I have a windows home server, that backs 8 computers at home. WHS works fine for now, but at some point I will need another solution since WHS is dead. One interesting and free solution I came across is Ur backup:

http://www.urbackup.org/

It can backup both folders or entire drive volumes, but you do need a computer or device to act as a server.

I was in the same boat, used the old WHS and that worked fine, but then I had the entire array of drives get corrupted on WHS and decided to abandon it since it was a dead end anyway. I use easeus now, but I'm less than thrilled about it in many ways. I'll take a peek at urbackup as well to see if that works better.
