Here's another happy customer with IngDIRECT. Best interest rate (it's more than my IRA!) and really easy to move money back and forth between my main checking account and my Ing savings account. I make about $20 a month in interest off my savings w/ them.

I for one am trully impressed with their customer service. For some reason my account needed to be verified by their "Loss Prevention Department". Well, I called up on Saturday and got a very cheerful CSR with no hold time. Turns out though that I also need to call some other department at ing. Instead of leaving me hanging however, the CSR personally emailed me today and told me I needed to follow up with the other department. I'm impressed!

So I was charged for keeping my money there, not trading, then taking my money out. It's a simple scam at E-trade, and I'm worried that some of these other online places will do the same. Note: none of those charges existed when I signed up.

Anyone seen similar maintenance, no activity, or closing account fees at Ingdirect or other places?

I don't think ING Direct has any of those fees, but NetBank definitely does! Too many to mention. You've got to read their long list of fees under the title "COMMON FEATURES:"

I was hit by the inactivity fee a few times (they have two different ones), and almost got the closing fee ($7.50 if closing balance is less than $7.50!?!)

BTW, I still accept referral if anyone needs it. Just PM.

don't leave your monney in the brokerage account, interest rate is near minimal. and you get inactive fee. presidential bank is the highest rate I have seen so far (3%). INGdirect is not bad either (2.3%). opening account bonus is great. PM me or email me if you need a referral for $25.00. Free cash does not hurt. here is my email: le0230@hotmail.com

happy hunting!!

yes, that everbank 3.01% rate is an introductory offer. After 90 days the rate is reduced to 1.5% or less according to their website. Beyond that, there's a $1500.00 minimum balance. Also, I work about 30 seconds from their address, which is a ghetto industrial area in LI, NY.

This like right here for the Orange Savings account is the equivalent of a regular Savings account that you guys are referring too or the "Orange Savings" is some modified ING account with some requirements or whanot? Sorry I'm new at this money saving stuff.

Thanks.

errr... I guess the requirements is that I need a checking account, which I do not have. So that's it I can't apply?

They aren't FBN. This bank has been around for several years. They have the WORST customer service though, so I doubt they'll be around in a few more years.

My problems with them:
1) I sent several email/web form requests for help getting new checks, since I kinda wanted to use all of the money I put there. Never answered any of the requests for help. If they can't respond to internet-based requests for assistance, they suck.

2) I eventually tried calling them to get this fixed. It took a couple of calls. They were supposed to send me a form or something (I forget). Anyway, it never came so I called back and closed the account.

At least I got some money out of the deal (high interest rate...while it lasted, which used to be more than 90 days I think).

This is not an online only corporation, while the bank itself is. Plus it's federally insured. I feel pretty safe.

Thanx for the deal guys.

I think it will work until 4/1/03 (probably not included), at least that's what the promotion footnotes said.

I've been with ING for two years now it's great, anytime I want I can transfer money from and to my checking account with no problems in 2 business days, people think 2.3% is a good deal, When I opened my account it was paying out 5.5%, but since then it's been decreasing as the fed has been cutting intrest rates.

I have a simple checking account but never dealt with any kind of a savings account. How is tax calculated and collected from the interests? Is it automatic or do we have to report it ourselves?
