Easy to Overclock Athlon 64 3200+ 939 pin?

So I am upgrading from an Athlon XP 2400+ to these new specs:

Gigabyte GA-K8NS Ultra-939 Motherboard
Athlon 64 3000+ 939 Pin CPU
PC3200 DDR Specteck 1 Gig RAM
Thermaltake Venus 12 CPU Coole

Now, I overclock my video card all the time but I haven't overclocked a CPU for years! Would it be worth it to pay the extra $50 to get a 3200+ or can I overclock the 3000+ pretty easily with such a large CPU cooler?

Please let a newb know!

Yah the 3000+ is a great overclocker... you're good to go.

Only problem is... that motherboard will limit your overclockability.

Try the DFI or an MSI if you want to truly overclock.

Why would this motherboard limit my overclockability? It seems to have all manual FSB, Memory and CPU tweaks in the BIOS.

Also, the 3000+ 939 pin only runs at 1.8 GHz -- About what speed do you think I could reach with that Venus 12 cooler?

as long as its a 90nm winchester, there are 130 nm 3200+'s called newcastles.

I have had that board at 275 HTT with the right ram in dual channel 1T. As long as it's not picky about your sticks your set.....
(GAk8ns-ultra 939 hates my BH-5 but solid as a rock OCed with geil value ram)

The Gigabyte is not known for being a great overclocker. Check out some of the articles for 939 roundup here at Anand if you don't believe me.

Hmm.... the vendor I am getting it from doesn't specify if it is a winchester or a newcastle... It just says 939 Pin Athlon 64 3000+
