True, but but doing stunts like this doesn't the help the GOP or Trump any.

Not sure if serious. Look how fast @s0me0nesmind1 jumped on AOC, and supposedly a "#bothsides" independent mind. Now take that to the next step and consider what devout republicans and Trump supporters are thinking and/or saying.

That AOC and the rest of the savages sure are dumb!

The fact that you guys prop up this freshmen congresswoman fresh off the bartender role as some pedestal of high intelligence tells me all I need. This is clearly someone that knows nothing of global economics or how to run a country in the slightest. Everything is always just write a check for it.

And the fact is - the only counter argument I ever receive is the whataboutrepublicans as if I stand beside everyone that has an R next to their name even though I voted against them entirely in the last 2 elections. The whole "were on one team and you're on the other" really needs to stop.

oh, but it does. Do you know how many times if seen this item pop up on friends/relatives/acquaintances social media feeds? They see it and believe this woman is a voice of the "crazy liberals". Even if you show them it was a troll, they don't buy into it. They just say "well, fine, this one is a troll, but that's how these people think!" Not to mention with AOC being in the room with her, just attaches this (fake) craziness to AOC dragging her through the mud even more for these people.

Things like this plant seeds, ittle by little and they grow in these people over time until it becomes their reality. It's highly effective on lots of people. This is how the social media con-job is played by the Russians and other groups.

The only people I've seen prop up AOC more than the left is the right.

"Ocasio-Cortez majored in international relations and economics at Boston University, graduating cum laude in 2011"

Yep, real dumb.

The only thing that matters in a representative is that they want to do right by their constituents and surround themselves with the right expertise to help them accomplish that goal. None of our representatives are writing policy by themselves.

You do realize that means absolutely nothing right?

Have you been in a single college class for business?

No, you obviously haven't.

No, my BA and MA are in different majors than business.

btw, what's the beef against bartending (or any other less prestigeous job) when you're trying to help your family survive? Get in the right bar and you can make some damn good money.

On the other hand, I guess propaganda can be hard to resist at times.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/nati...o-trump-fringe-group-says-they-planned-stunt/

It looks like it was a right-wing stunt/troll job to try and make AOC look bad.
Indeed. From your article:

"In response, Ocasio-Cortez chastised critics for trying to “mock or make a spectacle” of a woman who “may have been suffering from a mental condition.”

It now seems likely that the scene was carefully planned.

The woman was apparently part of an attempt by a right-wing fringe political group to embarrass the Democratic congresswoman. Late Thursday, a Twitter account belonging to the LaRouche PAC — which was founded by conspiracy theorist Lyndon H. LaRouche Jr. — took credit for the stunt.
A historian who has documented the organization said the woman’s outburst was “a fairly well-established tactic for them.”

“They’ve been doing this since the ’70s,” Matthew Sweet, whose book “Operation Chaos” delved into the group’s complex history, told The Washington Post. “The tactic is you go to a political meeting and you create a disturbance that disrupts the meeting, and more importantly, that creates a kind of chaos.”

The LaRouche PAC did not respond to a request for comment early Friday.

Described by Sweet as a “bizarre political cult,” the group was led by LaRouche until he died at 96 in February. LaRouche, who ran for president eight times between 1976 and 2004, “built a worldwide following based on conspiracy theories, economic doom, anti-Semitism, homophobia and racism,” The Post’s Timothy R. Smith wrote. In its early years, the organization’s views skewed left, but LaRouche’s vision eventually shifted, becoming “ultraconservative and apocalyptic,” The Post reported. More recently, the group has expressed support for Trump."

Business, possibly. International Relations is generally taught at a very high level. No skating there. You obviously have no familiarity with the discipline.

Hah - I'm trying to interpret that - by "very high level" do you mean not detailed - not very thorough? Or do you mean as high intelligence?

If the latter, I would have to say... Yeah no - that is absolutely preposterous and laughable to suggest.... Yet not surprising lol.

And you've proven countless times here that obviously haven't either, but I digress...

But seriously, just ranting pseudo-objectivist zerosum "it's all so simple, you idiots!" economic nonsense doesn't make anyone look like an economic genius, no matter how hard you keep trying.

Your argument is pretty much: 'She's dumb because I (and the propaganda) say she's dumb.' An obviously intelligent, well-thought-out position to hold.

Apparently a single HOR member is enough to trigger him.

Well, he has to do something to distract from the fact that his "side" epicly failed on 2 pathetically childish troll stunts on 2 D congresswomen on the same day. Can't have people talking about that, so he has to puff up his sense of self-importance and rant propaganda nonsense about how it's all the "left's" fault that the "right" obsesses over a freshman congresswoman from one of the highest PV+D districts in the country.

You don't have to be that smart to be on the right track. A lot of it is just letting go of biases. Which Republicans are better on economic policy?

"The controversy of the moment involves AOC’s advocacy of a tax rate of 70-80 percent on very high incomes, which is obviously crazy, right? I mean, who thinks that makes sense? Only ignorant people like … um, Peter Diamond, Nobel laureate in economics and arguably the world’s leading expert on public finance. (Although Republicans blocked him from an appointment to the Federal Reserve Board with claims that he was unqualified. Really.)

[...]

To be more specific, Diamond, in work with Emmanuel Saez — one of our leading experts on inequality — estimated the optimal top tax rate to be 73 percent. Some put it higher: Christina Romer, top macroeconomist and former head of President Obama’s Council of Economic Advisers, estimates it at more than 80 percent.

Where do these numbers come from? Underlying the Diamond-Saez analysis are two propositions: Diminishing marginal utility and competitive markets."

What country has successfully taxed the rich at obnoxious rates that is proportionally well above the rest of the population - knowing that the bottom 50% of the United States pay $0 or less in federal income taxes.

go on. I'm waiting.

(The answer is nothing).

And see? We're still not talking about the thread topic. Yaknow, where some low-class right-wing trolls played a childish stunt and failed epicly.
