Eating in a restaurant alone...

I think the most played out thing ever is those metrosexual fruits who bring their Macbook to Starbucks or Panera and read "deep" books in an effort to impress people, hopefully women. They sit their with their thick black framed glasses and are just generally annoying.

They're the people who are politically minded and abhor stereotypes, yet they're a walking stereotype, comforming to the "T".

I agree. I can't read a book with others around like that unless it's a library. And mainly because of those stereotypes.

I enjoy it, but then I'm weird. I have a woman, and plenty or roommates and friends that I shouldn't have to do it, but I do. I too enjoy people watching, I feel it helps with my writing. I love the diners that have all the stereotypes.

When I'm traveling on business, I can't bring myself to eat alone at a nice place. Too dull. Usually I will pick up fast food, take it back to the hotel and eat while watching TV.

Once when I was couple towns over for work that day and I decided to have steak & shake for lunch - felt really weird having a waitress for just me. Otherwise, fast food is no problem eating alone there - just depends where I am, if I've been driving too much, if I need a break for the day, etc.

I've heard that in Europe and in other countries, it's no big deal. Apparently, we have a big hangup when eating at restaurants and watching movies alone.

I have spent a lot of time traveling alone, both for business and pleasure. Makes little sense to miss out on a decent meal, so I've often gone to nice restaurants by myself. I see nothing wrong with it.

I eat sushi alone sometimes but that is b/c you can sit at the bar and it is best fresh. Otherwise I usually just order to go and take home and eat.

I am like most of the members in this thread and don't eat at the nicer restraunts alone unless its fast food. When its fast food i just do take out.

I think for me the food just has more value when im with a group of friends. Three or four people make it more enjoyable.

You could also try Hooters, you'll have plenty of "friends" to stare at.

I eat all the time at a sushi bar, it fact I made friends with the poeple who work there and we talk all the time.

I told my family I didn't want anything at all for my birthday, then sat down to dinner & drinks by myself. It helped me clear my thoughts a little, but unlocked alot of fustration I thought was gone. Kind of like all the anxiety that some people get when trying to fall asleep. I ended up taking two hours to walk home, because I didn't want to say anything stupid out of fustration.
