FYI,

Don't pay $75+ for WoW on ebay.

I JUST BOUGHT 2 copies of WOW locally at EB Games. Check your local EB. They have them online "for now" according to the website.

My local EB Games is out, but said they get them in about twice a week.

Just called GameStop and they said they have about 20 copies...I'm picking it up after work.

Blizzard grossly underestimated how much of a juggernaut this game was going to be, I think their market research people did a fair estimate based on previous MMO's out there, but this game took off like a rocket and they quickly got overwhelmed, as was evident by the fact they have had to increase their # of servers several fold over original estimates. Because of that, the initial release run of the game was also grossly underproduced. I am kicking myself daily for not buying the Collector's Edition in town when I had the chance... I am tempted to buy a spare copy or two for any friends that might want to jump in the game, if not, I can always fleabay them for a few $$$ profit.

Ironwolf- You will no longer be able to profit from scalping Wow now that the supply chain has reopened, it will not tighten again.

My Local Electronic Boutique told me 4 weeks ago that Blizzard was not going to sell any more copies until they upgraded their servers. I did not believe them, why turn down money when servers are so cheap.? Still without a CD key my brother could not sign up.

The clerk at EB was not lying. The support staff at Blizzard has done an amazing customer service by limiting distribution until they have enough staff to support the current server load.

have been playing since the open Beta and my server medium population. You shouldust sign up on a low population and you will have a better experience. Expect only occaional slow downs in very high population zones such as the central city auction house, the transfer of items at the auction, and the in game email system... So I did not think the problems were serious enough to warrant limiting the supply and losing profit for Blizzard.

Did they really just run out of printed, burned CDs in boxes to sell? No because I was able to order directly from blizzard. com two weeks ago when the ebay price was still 30$ higher than the retail at blizzardd, just because no B&M or online vendor had them in stock. If it were not for their distribution deal, they could have just sold the accounts without physical CDs since HALF A MILLION people already downloaded the entire code from their open BETA, which only took an update to turn into the first day of retail code.

So they really held back the supply.

Order from blizzard.com.

Reward them by giving the slim profit from EB back to blizzard for its good customer support and AWESOME game of the epoche.

Ya, and HL2 is another game you run around and shoot stuff.

I am so close to buying up this game, but Im afraid of what will happen to my life after I start.
I've never done any MMORPG, but love blizzard games. I still havent gotten HL2 yet. Tough Choices.
Time for a new game this weekend too. GuildWars looks good too.

Well its beautiful in an artsy fantasy way, It seems balanced in its playability, there are half a dozen start zones and eight races on two sides to start with. Read some reviews- it seems even the game critics (sounds like a great job) are addicted worse than previous herionware. Its not a mere grind machine. More than the sum of its parts due to the careful balance and production quality. Try it at a friends house for an hour. Its fun.

The best thing of all was the open beta- a super demo of the entire world. I hope all games are introduced that way from now on.

WoW really rocks! I work full time, am away on weekends, and still manage to have a fulfilling play experience.

One very cool feature is a "rested" XP bonus.

If you are inside an inn or a major city, you start slowly earning rested XP, even if you're logged off.

Let's say you logged off for 24 hours and came back on and you've earned 1000 rested XP.

For each XP point that you earn by killing enemies, it will give you an additional XP point from your rested XP pool. It will do this until you run out of rested XP. If you earn 100 xp from killing a monster, it'll say Experience Gained: 200 (+100 rested bonus), and your rested XP pool would drop by 100.

So if your friend had no rested XP, and you had 1000, and you both went and killed 1000 xp worth of enemies, you'd have earned 2000 to his 1000.

This helps you to catch up if you've been away for a few days, so it's not as hard to take a break, and you don't need to play every single night to keep up.

WoW is the best MMORPG I have ever played hands down. I got it when it was released and just love it. The classes (well, except the warrior) are all amazing. They put the rogue class together better than any other game before it. A rogue in WoW can be exactly what you want it to be. You want to kill someone without them seeing you, train in assasination talents. It's just an amazing game. I highly recommend it to anyone.

They are releasing the Battleground in WoW soon. This should be AMAZING! Here's a link to what this will be like:

man...i too am one of those ppl who are on the verge of getting this game. I actually played the open beta for those 2 weeks or so...and it was indeed fun...I was gonna get it for sure then, but it was too addictive and I ended up not getting it.

So is the collector's edition completely sold out? I always get CE's from blizzard games.

Original or not, it's a very cool feature. My bubble remains unburst

What was power-hour like?

hahaha nice.

WoW is incredibly fun. what amazes me (other than the downtime ) is the fact that the world is so immersive. Save instances and hearth, i have yet to see a loading screen.

Seriously,
This game is amazing. and worth evey penny. I've played a few other MMORPG and none have come close. I think the only other time I was so welded to a monitor was when Diablo 2 first came out.
I honestly this is one of the best computer games I have ever played.
The only reason not to get it is the amount of time you end up spending. You love it... but your girlfriend might start threatening to take an axe to your rig.

How does this change the fact that its great for people who don't play as much?

What I do, is have dinner with the wife, watch a TV show. She'll pass out on the couch, I'll sneak off and play WoW for 2-4 hours then off to sleep for me too. It works out perfectly for us...
