We shall all honor this day of discovery you've had. We shall call it "Jeff Day" and celebrate by thinking something trivial we did has an impact of monumental proportions on others lives because we're all just THAT important.

Quick, someone add this moment in internet history to Wiki!!1

haha

It seems to me that it might qualify for an antitrust lawsuit.

I think so too. Abut 7 years from now we'll all get checks for $.38 from Ebay when the lawsuit is settled.

Yeah I see a lawsuit brewing. Lets hope so.

I'm just going to say in my Auctions that the people HAVE to pay with the google pay. Problem solved

Googles pay system is going to take off like wildfire. The kind of money it will save people is going to be amazing compared to how paypal screws you. People will do anything to save a buck or two. And G-pay will save much more than that.

I guess the reasoning is because Google Pay is new and they don't trust it as a means of secure payment BUT if you do get screwed on an auction, see how much eBay cares anyways...

I'll bet that Ebay responds that Google Checkout is too new to be allowed and with possible kinks and bugs it does not yet meet ebays standards of protecting its customers to the utmost degree.

Mark my words, that's how Ebay will respond, and boom, no more lawsuit.

EDIT: Jhayx7, great minds think alike. Didn't see your post before I posted.

From the Digg article...

eBay's Safe Payments policy states that a payment service must have a "substantial historical track record of providing safe and reliable financial and/or banking related services."

Google's spokesperson said yesterday, "Google Checkout is not a beta product. Google has a long history in billing and payments for AdWords and for premium services, such as Google Video."

how long before google sues eBay for unfair business practice? Google Checkout is a competitor of PayPal which eBay owns. but they only prove how much worse PayPal is.

Seriously. If ebay doesn't get slapped the fvck down for this then our antitrust system is completely broken.

You're free to use other online auction sites.

And eBay does permit other payment services besides PayPal. Just not Google Checkout (yet).

They obviously don't accept google checkout because they feel it threatens paypal. Google has a long history with billing and is definately "tried and true":roll::roll::roll::roll::roll:

Hmm I haven't touched Ebay in probably close to a year. If not for the outrageous commission fees, lack of support, pathetic handling of fraud cases, etc. Then for the lame ebay spamming, the classless of it all, the inefficient creation of listings, the hidden fees and how much it sucks to be a seller on there.

It's nice to see that it's going down in a pit of flames.

Citibank is somehow involved with Google Checkout.

Not sure how, didn't read the memo.........

*edit

Marketing............

I'm sure Citi was none too pleased when it's online payment system fizzled.

So they give bonuses to cardmembers supporting google checkout it appears.

Meh, under the current administration, the DoJ has no balls when it comes to anti-trust actions.
