OK. I guess it's my turn. I've read on here about some silly stuff and thought it would never happen to me.

Well, I smelled it thousands of miles away. Five weeks ago I posted a MP3 player for USA buyers but got a Brazilian guy winning the auction. He/she offered to buy it with extra shipping cost (not much, total to 30$) and I shipped it out right away. My proof is postal tracking number and photo of the package in the post office.

Today, the guy opened an eBay buyer dispute for full refund stating the item have not arrived. I call it BS and escalated to ebay and have them decide, calling the buyer's history into question. I know it's a losing battle but oh well. I guess 30$ could feed his whole family for a year.

Send items to international buyers only by registered mail. You can track registered mail to international locations.

can't you prevent international buyers from bidding on your auction?

Yes, you can, but it takes a whole minute or two to configure your seller's account for that. Some just don't want to bother to do all that work.

eBay is not protecting sellers. They rather have the money in fee's and screw the seller. That's basically their attitude. Something new to look out for when selling to US SHIPPING ONLY buyers, is when someone wins and buys your item with a shipping address in the US, but their registered account is in another country. This is the new scam. eBay could care less.

Brazil has a lot of poverty, but is far from 3rd world.

He didn't say Brazil was 3rd world, only said it was poorer, which is true.

I feel for you OP, eBay has become worse and worse. Between the lack of seller protection from BS scams, loads of morons paying retail for items, and BS buyers it's hardly worth going there anymore.

REALLY?!

The OP said "poor"...the 7th largest economy by nominal GDP in the world, growing 5% a year according to wiki.

Brazil is NOT considered a "poor" country (only certain areas, which can extremely dirt poor.)

China ? ... the country is not poor by any means but has millions of "dirt poor" people.

India ? ... same thing, the country is not poor but has millions of "dirt poor" people

^ they are 3rd world countries, so what's your point ?

that's not exactly what one would call disputing the main premise.

So your point is that you consider those salaries "poor", even tho expenses like housing there are much lower than the US? (atleast they are for nat'l goods...imports are very expensive.) I don't consider those poor, certainly not 3rd world.

Again, you use 3rd world as if it means worse than poor.

Third world only means that a country was not aligned with the West/capitalism or the Soviet Union/communism during the cold war.

You don't even know what 3rd world country means. Besides, any country that prides itself on girls shitting in cups is a poor dump regardless of its GDP.

I will rarely ship international because of the extra headache w\ shipping and having to fill out customs. With domestic stuff, I can go to the 24hr usps drop off location near me and drop stuff off ( if not too big )

With intl stuff, I actually have to go after work and wait in line at the post office usually.

Only time I was nearly scammed internationally was when this guy bought a 300gb sas hard drive from me, and either forwarded it or had it forwarded on to china from Florida.

He then opened a case saying I sent him an 80gb sata drive instead. Then he actually sent me an 80gb sata drive via chinese courier service and the drive was labeled as being from china, etc.

After wasting probably 3 hours total on the phone explaining the situation over and over, and shipping the drive in to the security department, they left me alone.
