Holy crap.
A $500 item sold on ebay with paypal would be roughly $15 for paypal, $25 for ebay. Wow.
And I thought padding my shipping bill was bad before...

Y'all aint seen nothing yet! The unsustainable US economy. Look at increased medical costs, insurance cost, energy cost, etc........The company I worked for slashed my pay by $10k over the last 4 years, you could blatantly see the tranfer of money from the workforce to the management, but by golly, they wanted more production out of you. My a$$ got sore so I left. I laughed when US Air wanted their employees to work for free over the Christmas holidays! Somebody's going to have to pay for it eventually and guess who that will be? Good-bye capitalism...hello socialism.....Good advice over the next 10 years.....BRACE! BRACE! BRACE!........

For the majority of ebay sellers the only increases are these:

GALLERY
Gallery fees will be raised from $0.25 to $0.35 per listing.

We will also be increasing the size of the Gallery image on search and listings pages by 56%. This will make it easier for buyers to see details of the item before clicking into the listing.

BUY IT NOW
Buy It Now fees will no longer be charged at a flat rate, and will instead be determined based on the Buy It Now price. Fees will be charged as follows:

Buy It Now Price
Fee

$0.01-9.99
$0.05

$10-24.99 $0.10
$25-49.99
$0.20

$50+
$0.25

10 DAY DURATION
The fee for 10-day duration listings will be raised from $0.20 to $0.40 per listing.

The insertion fees and final value fees haven't changed. The big change come from sellers who maintain an eBay store.

Everyone is getting too excited without reading the whole email. A lot of sellers don't even use the Gallery, But it Now or use a 10 day auction. So basically, no increase at all for most.

What, you don't think we have a socialist regime now? I live in NYC with over 1 million rent subsidized or rent controlled apts. 1 MILLION. I have to pay a sky high mortgage because we have concluded as a society that its important for poor and elderly to live with us in our neighborhoods. Nice idea, but forced.
Then, I get a pay health insurance for the irresponsible people walking around eating bratwurst till they burst, or smoking till they drop. Then, I get to pay social security, welfare, medicare, etc. Brother, if it gets any more socialist I'll have to wear pink suits.

Well, if that's the case, I shouldn't be really effected by this raise.. tho I still feel that eBay is being little greedy. But hey, what can you do? They are just trying to make money just like any eBay sellers.

I just love the way everyone reads "fees rising" and not a damned bit more and slams ebay. The only thing the average seller will see increase is a very slight increase in reserve fees and gallery pic fees....a whole .10 for gallery and if you use picutre pack which includes a gallery image, mulitple pics, and supersizing pics (a bargain if you use more than 3 photos), there is NO increase at all for the average seller.

Notice how NO ONE is even mentioning the DECREASE ebay is putting in if you sell pocket bikes? Major drop in listing fees on them.

The "chicken little" syndrome being displayed here is much like everyone slamming EA Sports for tying up the exclusive rights to the NFL logo. Everyone jumped on the "bad EA" and "blame EA" bandwagons ...... it didn't matter it was the NFL that decided to auction off the 5 year rights to the logo and EA was just making a samned smart business decision by outbidding everyone else for the exclusive rights.

The lack of reading comprehension around here is astounding.......

What? Did you factor in the fee raisings from before? I guess YOU did not even mention the INCREASE eBay has already done. The majority of people on eBay sell less cost items, but a good amount of people WILL get effected by the increase. In this case it effects the eBay store sellers.

There is no doubt that e-bay is a monopoly in this market and there are very few companies that can actually successfully compete. I would love to see Google come out with google auctions and than we will see the prices drop. I do not invest in e-bay, however, you can not justify this increase through inflation or increased operating costs its down right greed. I hope some big company enter this market and knocks ebay of its high horse.

i do wish for google to come out with something...they have the best chance (small as it is) simply because there are so many people who use google, they might be able to attract customers.

honestly though...this is a perfect example of greed. ebay profits so much from these auctions. i can understand increasing the fees by some, but this price raise is radiculous.

in anycase, ebay can probably triple the prices...yet nothing will happen. because this is where buyers go...and where the buyer goes, the seller follows.

The fees are out of control. They are already making money hand over fist! I always liked Yahoo auctions better, but they didn't have Rosie O'Donnell backing them, so more people used Ebay. So...where the users go, the sellers go...thus begins the cycle.
That is the only reason I think Ebay became so popular. Yahoo charged less, and whatever you typed in your listing, that's what showed up. None of this HTML crap. I can't believe Ebay still does that.

Until everyone decides to up and move, sellers will all be stuck paying higher fees.

I just went to the Ebay Forums and snooped around:

A LOT OF SELLERS ARE MOVING TO BIDVILLE
