What's up with the high shipping on ebay now? $15-20 to send a cell phone UPS ground is almost an insult. That's a pet peeve of mine, don't charge me high shipping. I guess everybody is using it to cover their ebay fees now....bastards.

people have long figured that out to avoid ebay fees and add extra loot. If ebay really cracked down on that they would be getting so much more profit.....I guess it would be too difficult for ebay to manage all millions+ listings each second...

Shipping costs aren't subject to ebay's fees. And if a seller gives a refund, it's usually for the purchase price only, not for shipping.

Why do you care anyways? If it comes out to the same price in the end, whatever. Why does it matter if an item costs 30$ with 5$ shipping as opposed to 10$ with 25$ shipping? In the end ebay is just getting less money.

Oh, I did not know that I thought everything was refunded.

Almost never, unless the seller is really exceptional.

That's nothing. I saw $30 to $40 for shipping (for mobile phones)! :Q

But if you use paypal i think it does matter.

When I ship something i always measure the package and estimate the weight and run it by USPS and then put the shipping cost to be very close to what i got.

I don't understand how you charge 5 dollars for an item and 15$ for shipping when it could be shipped USPS for 4 dollars priority mail, it's such a rip off.

I sold my dell laptop last year which weight 14 pounds etc, when i looked online at other users selling the same model they wanted 40$ for shipping, what a rip off.

I shipped mine UPS for 12$ with 800$ insurance.

Partially on principal, it just bugs me when people mark up shipping so agreciously. Plus, on stuff more than $50 people probably look at selling price only and don't notice shipping cost. So the market really isn't "pricing in" shipping into their final offer for a lot of items.

It sure has changed since I was on eBay. I never made a penny on shipping charges nor did I intend to.

I never charge over $10. $5 for everything else. I do combined shipping too. I use flatrate priority boxes.

That how one makes money on ebay. A lot of buyers don't really factor in the shipping costs of an item when considering to buy it, on smaller items it's easy to double one's profit just by jacking the shipping. I fully intend to take advantage of each ebay buyer in every way that I can.

<-- Complete believer in social darwinism.

i'm really surprised that ebay hasn't tried to do something to combat high shipping fees. they are losing potential ebay fees.

A cell phone will easily be 2 pounds shipped when boxed properly. That's 5.75, plus add delivery confirmation for .45 (required by paypal) and insurance, which would be $3.20 on a $150 item. You're now up to $9.40.
