ebay problem (defective radeon 8500)

I recently purchased a video card off ebay for around 90 dollars. I got it and tried to hook it up but it doesnt seem to work. I tried e-mailing the guy but he is not responding to the emails. I got his home address and phone number from the ebay information feature. I tried calling him but to no avail but im sure he is aware of the video card problem. I sent the money with a money order by the way. What can I do?? Can I get this guy in trouble of some sort?? help

You could contact ATI and see if they'll honor the warranty. Not sure if they would, but it'd be worth a try.

I bought an ATI 8500DV off Newegg (it was a refurb) and when I got it, it didn't work. I just about sent it to ATI so they could send me a new one, but my darn morals got in the way and I decided not to.

I know it wasn't your problem, but if all else fails and you can't get ahold of him you still have hope.

How long has it been since you purchased the card?

It depends really...

If the auction was "as is" then you cant do squat about it.

However, if the card is defective upon receiving it (and you tried it right away, not like 2 weeks after you receive it), then you should keep on contacting this guy. If he still does not respond, you can take the case to eBay or call ATI and see if they will give you a RMA. ATI's OEM warranty is 1 year and its retail warranty is 3 years. Leave him some negative feedback while you're at it

Yzzim, I dont understand why you didnt send it to ATI. If it was retail, its definitely still within its warranty. Even though its a refurb (unless newegg specifically said it didnt work), then it should work.

You can't do anything, really. How does the seller know you didn't fry the card yourself. Remember that ebay isn't like going to the retail store down the street and expecting the same thing for 10x less money.
