Long story short--found a great deal on a U2711; it was sold as like new, no physical blemishes, no stuck pixels. I got it today and the top is scratched/ marred, and there is a stuck red pixel 4 inches from the bottom, three inches from the right.

The seller said to send it back, and he will refund my payment once it gets there, but my problem is that this does not seem fair. He lied to me about the condition, so it doesn't seem like it's right that I am stuck with shipping charges.

What do you guys think? Overall, I paid a good price for the monitor that I received, but I'm pissed that I was lied to, and I'm sure as hell that I don't want to be out $30 plus for shipping because he lied to me.

Do I have any other recourse? If I file a claim, can I make him pay for the return shipping?

Thanks,
Matt

Nope. I bought a WRT54G router that was sold as a GL version. Big difference between the two. Opened a case with eBay and all they said was to send it back and I would get the original purchase price + shipping refunded. No refund on the cost to ship back. I said "Fuck it" and kept it, but left negative feedback.

That's bullshit...if you return it because of a mistake on your end--like you bought the wrong model number--than it is fair to pay the return shipping, but it is bullshit if the seller lied to get stuck with the shipping charges.

That's what I said. eBay didn't care. Seller had 100% positive feedback until I left the negative one. Mr. Falcon deserved it too.

If I remember my law classes correctly, if they mis-represented the product then they should pay for the return shipping. But as indicated by her209, it may not happen; then it all comes down to how much money is worth spending on legal fees.

I would probably pay the return postage if you still get some money back, then leave negative feedback. Or see what you could sell it for in its current condition.

OP, have you left feedback yet? If not, that may be your only recourse. Try holding the seller's ffedback hostage to geting your shipping fee refunded.

I stopped selling on eBay almost 7 years ago because (I thought) the fees were too excessive. Last week my wife asks me to help her post something for sale. I was shocked to find how high the fees had gone up since my last sale.

The bottom line is that eBay really sucks if you are a seller (high fees, can't leave negative feedback for buyers, etc.) and somewhat mildly sucks if you are a buyer.

You know, lots of WRT54G routers were Linux-based until a few of the later revisions. The WRT54GL was identical to one of the earlier WRT54G versions, it just had the "L" so you could be absolutely sure it was Linux-based before opening the package.

You will probably need to stick to WalMart if you want a return policy like that.

Most ebay sellers are more ignorant than seriously being scammers.

Look at most people's homes. They bitch how they clean and do chores, but the fucking places are pigstys.

For some a 5 year old item that has all the labelling worn off is still 'mint' to them. That's why ebay cracked down on the 'new' description.

Yes I knew that already thanks. The one I was sold was a v6 IIRC.
