Ebay Seller Question

Has anyone here ever fought ebay buyer return process and won?

Buyer wants to return item due to reporting it to be faulty. I know this item worked prior

Buyer after winning auction messages me to conduct business directly through Paypal and not ebay. I refuse and tell him only ebay and to pay. He then asks the same thing again and asks if I have original box. I state that I do not.

I ask him if he tried another cable and he states he did and the other device he has works fine. So I am suspecting a swap-a-roo. Should I accept the return and see what happens or should I let this go to ebay and let them decide how to handle the return.

Cliffs: I know ebay sucks, so save those comments.

Happened to me as a seller. I was told by ebay that this is the cost of doing business and a refund was given to the buyer.

Ebay will force you to accept the return. Buyer will ship you a box of rocks with signature confirmation and your only recourse will be to sue the buyer.

Unfortunately, there is little you can do that I know of. I've never personally been scammed as a seller or buyer on eBay, but it would be nice if they put some preventive steps in place to correct some of these common scams. Though I really have no idea what those steps would be.

I assume it's not something that could have been damaged in shipping? Either way, did you insure it?

Best to invest in some kind of black light or UV illuminable dye/ink stamp, marking, or sticker of some kind, that you put on all your Ebay products. That way you can have some extra support on your side in cases of the switcheroo fraudulent returns.

Best to ask in one of the ebay forums, you will get some who have actually done it instead of a dozen guesses

I always take a couple dollars less, ship insured with tracking, signature restricted delivery and accept "as is" no returns. I have 100% feedback and hundreds of sales, so that helps a bit with the buyer accepting all those restrictions.

eBay is buyer friendly, no way around it, they'll force you to accept the return.

Ebay always sides with the buyer and I had my first experience a few months ago:

Buyer received item then leaves a POSITIVE feedback stating "Item exactly as described. Great seller. Thanks."

Buyer later files for item not working and wants to return it, opens a case with ebay, I responded with all my proof and notes. Buyer was frustrated with ebays process and OPENS a paypal case so now I have to deal with ebay & paypal.

Ebay sides with the buyer, sends the buyer a refund and put a negative balance on my ebay account. The case with paypal is still open so I closed, money was taken out from paypal. So now i'm out 2x money.

I had to call ebay and had to yell and curse the customer support person as she stated they don't deal with paypal as they are two different companies. Eventually higher up was able to look into the paypal transaction and fixed it.

No returns and "as is" isn't a policy you can have on eBay in regards to not as described cases. Having no returns just means someone can't get a refund because they changed their mind, or a clothing item doesn't fit.

The buyer had bad cables or didn't know how to use it or changed his mind - whatever. Refund and dispute cleared and I sold it locally for more than what I got on eBay
