Anyone with an account on eBay should check this out! Something called Infopia had set themselves up as 3rd party on my account without my permission!

Others I have heard about are:

* Andale
* Bonfire Media LLC
* Infopia
* Auctionhouse
* ChannelAdvisor
* AuctionWorks
* Zoovy
(too many others to list now)

Odds are, there's one on yours.

Go to My Account -> Preferences -> General Preferences -> Third Party Authorizations, then select any unauthorized sellers there and click "Revoke Authorization"

If any 3rd party access is found do not hesitate to send Ebay an email asking what the heck is going on! I certainly did.

"No authorizations to revoke"
Sounds like you have to authorize the third party...

That is just the thing, these entities are given 3rd party access WITHOUT your knowledge.

Now I do not profess to have any idea what this is all about. Best thing to do is to contact eBay and ask. Not as though eBay makes it easy for us to do so.

Start by going to the "Security & Resolution Center" after you sign in and fill in the fields.

BTW .... I have seen this very issue discussed in a couple forums recently so I know ours is not an isolated incident.

I don't have general preferences there... just "profile" which controls my options.

Thanks 'Susquehannock' for the heads-up.
Found 1 on mine - "Reminder". Don't know wtf that is...
Going to have to check this every time I sign in now... sigh.

I had none. Thanks for the heads up though...I've been a member since 11/99, it would suck to have to start all over.

Andale (created Jul-03-05)
eBay Holiday Dreams Sweepstakes (created Aug-21-06)
AuctionWatch (created Sep-28-06)

They're all gone now.
AuctionWatch and Andale is that little box that counts and displays visits to your auction page.
eBay Holiday Dreams Sweepstakes is a contest eBay runs, you are entered everytime you buy something.

Just so we are clear ... I do not profess to have any idea what this is all about. However, someone in another forum was kind enough to provide this :
http://www.auctionbytes.com/cab/abu/y205/m10/abu0152/s05

No matter what these entities are trying to do, I am surely not alone in my thinking that eBay really should NOT allow anyone access to my account without specific permission.

Best thing to do is to contact eBay and ask. Not as though eBay makes it easy for us to do so.

Here is an example of the e-mail which I sent to eBay security :
=======================
How can I have three third party authorizations on my account when I did not authorize anyone?
Is my account in jeopardy?
How does this happen?
Should I change my password?
Do you people know about this?
Does Ebay benefit by allowing access to our accounts by third parties?
What steps are being taken to protect member accounts?
How can this be prevented in the future?
Please respond.

========================

Feel free to copy paste if you like.

Thank you for your attention to this potentially volatile issue.

this is probably why some people see random For Sale listings in their accounts (listings that they themselves never setup). A lot of these are 3rd party companies who set up auctions.

Ebay's got some esplainin' to do...(for awhile now, though, as i've seen this before).

... this isn't anything new. Certain transactions authorize the third party to act on your behalf at eBay. I had USPS and AuctionWorks listed on my account... but I remember the transactions that placed them there. <shrug>

'...to revoke' would indicate they already have authorization.

now, "No authorizations to approve", that would mean you would have to authorize first.
