AuctionWorks (created Jan-14-06)
eBay Holiday Dreams Sweepstakes (created Oct-05-06)
Auctiva Corporation (created Oct-15-06)

Revoked them all and my counters still work.

This is why I am hesitant to start an Ebay store.

Eek, I have AuctionWorks, ChannelAdvisor, and eDeal under my account. Thanks for the heads up. I am assuming these appear after you purchase from a seller that uses a third-party checkout tool?

It's nothing bad.

Seriously though ... what you said sounds about right from what I have been reading.

The main purpose I started this thread is so people are aware of this 3rd party issue. From the responces it is quite obvious most people knew nothing about it. Not a good thing in my opinion, and many others' I would say.

You see .... it's all about Full Disclosure. People should be made aware when someone is given access to their accounts, and the nature of that access. Simply using an alternate checkout is not enough. Ebay should add a page which asks the buyer if they grant said access, and what level of information these 3rd party entities have access to.

I would be willing to bet that if we started a poll on this most would agree with me.

P. S. - - Thanks for taking the time to ask your friend and share what was said here.

Question for all ...

When using an alternative checkout, which is what many of these 3rd party authorizations are all about, were you asked in any way if you grant concerned party access to your account in any way? A check box, agreement screen, or the like?

This is a serious question. Please think carefully before you answer.

Thank you.

As I said on the previous page...

when I started listing autions on eBay, years ago, I wanted to use Andale counters. I needed to give Andale access to my account in order to do this.

that is the only authorization I had in my preferences.

edit: just a thought...
if someone were to list an auction for a piece of computer hardware and link to .. say auctionlogix, for example.. for a pic of the item they are selling... would that give auctionlogix aka consumer depot, access?

Found 4 and revoked authorizations.
Checked my history and found no unauthorized charges.
Thanks for the heads-up.

Yes I saw that before KarenMarie. Thank you. I can certainly understand how a seller might need to grant such access.

However my question was mostly directed toward buyers who use alternative checkouts.

I would have no idea how to answer that.

At the moment I am looking through the Ebay user agreements & related linked pages.
There are 156 help topics listed for "3rd party access" :frown:
