Started using this and its great when you lightly travel and need a national phone, you can even use it for free internationals calls. The website is www.ecallplus.com Here is some info on it:

eCallPlus.com provides the highest quality prepaid service at a great price!
There is no service contract or monthly charge. You simply pay for the airtime card you need.
We deduct just one minute of your airtime for each minute you talk on the phone to make or receive calls to/from anywhere in the US. You can even make calls to and receive calls from over 50 countries around the world at no extra charge!

Whats great is that they require you to renew in only 90 days compared to TRACFONE, FREEUP, and free 2 go which is 30 days.

And they use AT&T servicing.

This is the best PREPAID ever, well in my opinion. Let me know what you guys think =)

I just started using eCallPlus with my free Free2Go phone from a previous PhoneShark deal, now that my AT&T airtime has expired, and I must say I'm very satisfied with it. The activation was fast, customer service has been very responsive so far, and the rates are good. Plus you can spare your minutes by using the free text messaging! Being a foreign citizen (with no credit history and limited access to most phone deals) I also love the fact that I can call abroad from my cell phone at a reasonable rate.

I have about 10 minutes left from eCallPlus from about 140 days ago and it's still active

Another good review for eCallplus - it's easy and painless and good if you don't use the phone very much.

Sounded like a friggen advertisement with the first three positive low-post repliesand how ShynnSw33tx wrote "We deduct just one minute..." but then I guess I'm wrong. . I'll check it out.

I have two phones with them and so far I'm very happy. The rates are no where near as good as a monthly plan but if you only need it for emergency use you can't beat it at 3.33 per month with voice mail and two way text messaging. Hell it's cheaper then a beeper for me!

Right now they are offering double minutes for new activations so a $20 card will get you 100 minutes or 90 days, $10 refill cards are also available on the web.

Call them to sign up for free, you do not need to purchase their activation kit! All you need is a TDMA cell phone and a CC to pay for the first phone card. There is another site on the web that will sell the cards via paypal too.

More info over at FW....

My wife just called them, and they told her to sign up over the web. They also REQUIRE purchase of the starter pack. I don't know which CSR you talked to, but this is what she was told over email and also over the phone. Her mom also called a few months ago and was told the same thing (about the starter pack). Activation was also very slow. Where AT&T can set up a phone in 10-minutes, ECallPlus requires 48-hours, and they don't count weekends. They do take the FULL 48-hours also, but it took so long (around 3-4 working days) that my wife wondered whether they only count work hours. When she called them, a guy with a thick accent had no knowledge of what was going on, and was less than helpful. His only advice was to "wait a while". The email support was a little more helpful, but they only answered email once every 24-hrs or so. There was also no mention of double minutes!

Anyway, now that she's set up, she's happy with it for the free text, but it certainly isn't "fast" activation by any means. I also don't know how people are getting away without buying the starter kit.

I just signed my wife up two days ago with her existing AT&T 5160. I didn't have to buy the starter kit and they had the phone active within an hour. It was fast and easy for me.

Apparently, it depends on which CSR you get whether they tell you do buy the Activation Pack or just do it and let you buy airtime. I got mine when the cheap Amazon ATT Nokia deal was on a year ago, and many people were able to switch without the Activation Plan.

GnatGoSplat: I activated my second phone from them less then a week ago and was not charged any activation fee and I didn't need to buy any "kit" either, it sounds like you got a lousy cs rep! I did buy the $20 starter card from them though... Plus both of my phones were activated within one hour of placing the phone order.

I bought the Nokia 5165 from Phoneshark under the ATT Free2Go plan... Is that the phone you switched over? I'm such a cellphone noob it's not funny, but since I now am using the Free2Go service, when it runs out, can I switch over to eCallplus for free and buy minutes on their service?

I was under the impression it was hard to switch providers... Can someone give me sort of a walkthrough of what I need to do to switch over?

I didn't know they had free text messaging too. Thanks thats cool. So could I go to the AT & T website and do the text messaging their to someone else?

FreemoreJohnson: Any AT&T phone will work. You just need to call and cancel your account with AT&T be it monhly or prepaid, this frees up your serial number in the system so ecallplus can activate it.

I'm thinking about signing up, but I was wondering if anyone knew a good place to get a Nokia phone? I'm lookng at phoneshard and they have a kit for 40 bucks that I may get. Are there any other suggestions?

One draw back on eCallplus service is that: any voicemail message will incur airtime (leaving a message or retrieving one), while ATT is free. Also, ATT has free 611 number to call to check airtime left and expiration date. I am not sure about eCallplus.

Are you SERIOUS???
My wife noticed her airtime magically disappearing, she thought maybe they were charging her for text. Perhaps it's because of the voicemail? That kind of defeats the purpose and makes this deal pretty cold, IMO. I wonder if they offer a money back satisfaction guarantee?

I just call them to confirm that. I mostly use my cell as a beeper+emergency, so I am going to stick to AT&T. Be careful, if some telemarketer left you a 20 minutes recorded voice message, you will be charge for 20 minutes. Believe me, this could happen.

Hmmmm, this could be just what my sister's looking for, but the 252C phone that she has through TracFone isn't supported...

Can someone list some hot deals on cell phones? PhoneShark.com doesn't tell me very much.

Voicemail with ecallplus is completey free. Of course if you use your cell phone to retrieve messages you will incur air time.

Remaining air time is announced before each call. Finding out the expiration date is accomplished by adding 90 days to the date you last redeemed a card or by calling them and asking them to look it up.

Hi,

Well now I'm wondering, if you incur minutes if you retrieve voicemail from a different phone, say your home phone. Someone please advise.

No minutes charge if you call from a non-cell phone unless your call from the non-cell phone to your cell phone number is long distance in and of itself. In that case you incur whatever LD charges apply to the non-cell phone.

For example, if your cell phone number is in New York city and you happen to be in San Francisco, then the non-cell call to your NYC cell phone number will incur long distance charges. No air time will be charged.

To Listen to your Messages:

Dial your wireless phone number.

Press # to interrupt the greeting.

Enter your password.

The system will automatically play new voice messages.

After you review a message, the system will prompt you to "Save" or "Erase" that message. If you do not respond, your message will be skipped, and the next message will begin to play.

It seems like you can call from anywhere to check your messages.
