Ok, mine isnt *THAT* bad. P3 750-900 or something like that. My parent's machine. I figure its on but not doing anything 18+ hours per day, and when it is used it is playing mp3s, cds, or someone is playing bejeweled

I would run it on my p133 firewall if I could find a stable client...

I've got a Duron 800mhz that I'm able to dump regularly now, and I'll try to overclock it a bit to see if I can increase it's output a little. I'll also be adding a Celeron 500mhz system as soon as I can get a case for it (only have the mobo, proc, and other misc. stuff now). Dunno how much it will produce, but hopefully it will help.

I'd do that if I had a spare ATX power supply lying around, but unfortunately that isn't the case (no pun intended). However, I'll hopefully be geting a case here in a week or so, so I just have to be patient. :|

rofl, actually.. i h4x3d one of my old p75 cases.. and have all the parts minus a processor ready to go sitting in it... even took of the front panel of another case and hooked up the reset button to power up the mobo.. is there any other way to power up without a button? i'd like to save money on cases in the future and make my own

you can just short it witha screwdriver, or wire in any momentary switch for that matter

damn, thats all it takes? never realized exactly how it worked, but it makes sense now... or i can keep ripping faceplats off of old pcs

btw, we mananged to gain 4 dps on techimo during this last update lets go for a little more for some comfort.... we're gonna have to add some serious computers to catch up with the dutch... they should double us soon...

bob970 Radio Shack sells crappy momentary switches -normally on- for about a buck-n-ahalf for two. I use them on experimental cases.

lol, i really wish i had a digital camera so i could take a pic of this slapped together case i really wanna get creative with my next case... like.. put 3 pcs in one big cart/case that i could push if necessary and sit one big monitor on top with a monitor switching device.. something super nerdy

Ive got one machine under my desk. Its an original athlon with about 7 fans on the outside. The dual p3 has just the metal shell of the case, no sides, no front. Behind me, I have an old Dell p133 (I got it for free ), ontop of a SparcStation 10. Everything but the sparcstationis hooked up to a KVM switch (although my Dual P3 doesnt like the switch). Wires everywhere, and a crappy 19" monitor for them. Its about as nerdy as Ive gotten with my systems so far.

I need to jerry rig a desk where I can hide my towers in cabinets and my desktop type machines in a drawer or something. Get everything out of under my desk so I can sit at it.

Between the ~7 fans on the Athlon system, and the heatsink fans I have to keep the computer tied down. Im half tempted to upgrade my cpu to a 900mhz thunderbird slot a so I can get the retail heatsink/fans to cut down on the noise
