$69.99 - $10.00 MIR = $59.99. Rebate and combo deals expire 3/31.

Check out the extensive selection of combo deals including several Phenom CPUs, HD2400XT, HD3450 and HD3470 video cards, and a Media Center Remote.

This is currently one of only three 780G boards available, and the only ATX 780G motherboard available. While ATX might not be the best for an HTPC build, owners of Silverstone Lascala (or similar) cases may still appreciate these boards for their extra expansion slots.

Edit: The ASUS M3A78-EMH HDMI AM2+/AM2 AMD 780G HDMI Micro ATX AMD Motherboard is getting in on the combo deals now, too.

can u overclock the gpu to around 900mhz like u can with the other 780G mobos? also can u overclock the cpu? the Gigabyte mobo is a bit more but you know you can overclock, has eSata, solid capacitors, DVI, etc. 60 bucks for a basic 780G mobo is a great deal though even though it doesn't have the feature set of the Gigabyte or Jetway mobos. I definitely will pick up a 780G. this thing is hot.

another note for possible HTPC users, it is an ATI-based chipset, which are notorious for being poorly (if at all) supported in Linux...

Wow, it's been awhile since I was looking at hardware. Too long, apparently. So, is there any way to get hurt if I buy the combo in cubeless's link:

AMD Phenom 9600 Agena 2.3GHz Socket AM2+ 95W Quad-Core Processor Model HD9600WCGDBOX - Retail
ECS A780GM-A AM2+/AM2 AMD 780G HDMI ATX AMD Motherboard - Retail $259 AR

and add this memory:

Crucial Ballistix 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model BL2KIT12864AA1065 - Retail
Item #: N82E16820148069 -$5.00 Instant $35.00 Mail-in Rebate total about $60 AR

for total about $320 AR?

seems like a pretty good deal to me, but I'll also probably have to get a new PS, mine is an older Thermaltake 450. Hey, but they're bragging on low power consumption, maybe not?

Comments, criticism? derisive laughter?

IMHO, this board is mainly for budget HTPC builders. If you're going to be using a Phenom and DDR2-1066, I'd suggest waiting a bit until ASUS' ATX 780G board is released, because it will likely have more features (for overclocking) and has a larger NB heatsink. It shouldn't be more than $20-30 more expensive than this ECS board.

I'll not laugh at the Phenom processor......heck, I've been more AMD this decade than Intel....until the C2D's came out.

But an ECS motherboard? Personally, I wouldn't let my worst enemy own one of those. Not saying they're bad or anything, but I think ECS says to themselves, "Thank goodness for PC Chips!".....if you catch my drift.

I'd wait for a brand worth putting your hard earned money into.....like damned near anything else....Asus, Gigabyte, MSI, Foxconn, EVGA, and the list goes on.......

The onboard graphics sound great. Decoding HD video with only a Sempron 3200+ is fantastic.

I'm interested in getting this board to upgrade an aging Socket A system for a relative. Since this person only upgrades every few years, should he consider holding our for AM3? I looked and cannot find a release date for AM3. I'm thinking that onboard video will really benefit from DDR3.

looks like there might already be an ASUS combo deal about $20 more? http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16813131273

is this one of the better boards referred to by gingerstewart55?

Wouldn't it be like pointing in the mirror since PCChips and ECS merged in 2003 (or before)? I think that PCChips also owns Soyo, Matsonic, Chaintech, and a few other brands.
