ECS G556E Laptop Battery Problem

hi guys i would like to inquire about my problem on my ECS G556E Notebook.

i am working on AC conditions with my battery charged at 100%. after several on-off cycles (say i turn off my laptop after calling it a day, then turning it on again when i reach home to work again), or even after 12 hours or so without turning it on, when i turn it on i saw that my battery status is 99%. please take note that i had never switched into battery mode when that change in battery level took place.

the decrease did not stabilize at 99% but it kept on decreasing (after several on-off cycles or 12 hours in off state, same operations as mentioned above), considering the fact that my laptop is only 3-months old.

what could be the problem? please help! your replies would be extremely appreciated! thanks in advance!

how fast does it drop b/c 99% is right if you turned it on b/c the moment you use any of your battery its' below 100%

hi mgob!

the battery drops to 99% after one of the following scenarios:
- i work for a long time under AC conditions and my battery is charged 100%. when i turn it on the next day, it is already 99% after booting to my OS (as indicated by the power meter).
- i do not use my laptop for about a day or two, with the battery fully charged at 100%, then when i turn it on, it is already 99% after booting to my OS (as indicated by the power meter).

and the same cycle goes (as stated by the situations above) and my battery drops 1% in battery charge even when working under AC conditions.

please take note that i never worked under batter conditions. thanks for the response!

batteries self discharge at various rates depending on age. even new ones. its normal. wait a week and it will probably be at 95% or so.

when youre on ac power the battery is not always being charged (its bad for it) when its at 100% the notebook stops charging it. when the battery self discharges to a point the notebook charges it back to 100%

ahh...so is this general on all laptops?

for new ones yes. older ones with ni-cad batteries constantly trick charged but the new li-ion batteries are very smart and so are the charging circuts. they wont allow you to over charge the battery which is very bad for it.

i see. so li-ion batteries wait until their charge goes to 95% before recharging again?
